Matsuki Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in George Town

A family run Japanese restaurant existed more than a decade. The owner, husband and wife, are friendly. We've been patronizing Matsuki for more than 10 years.

Food used to good at affordable price. However, during our latest visit few days ago, we found that prices of the set meals increased for RM3/set. It's understandable given the hike of raw material and inflation is taken into account.

To our disappointment, the portion of the Salmon and the Teriyaki Chicken of the set meal is very small. The Chawanmushi that we had on that day weren't properly steamed and it appeared to be watery, neither the taste was right. The quality of food has dropped a lot.

There are 2 male Indian staff who work as waiters. One of them is quite friendly, but the other one who is responsible to take orders didn't show a welcoming attitude to customers.

Visit on 20 April 2017: I used to eat here frequently when I lived just opposite for 6 years, and still did after I moved. My last visit before this was probably about 3 years ago.

Sadly, this was a disappointing meal. The prices remain about the same, but the taste and quality seem to have dropped significantly. The taste was below average, and the food was not very fresh. It's a shame, as this has always been a hidden gem for affordable, fresh and delicious Japanese food.

There is a lot of space in front of the restaurant for parking, and the staff is as great and friendly as always.

Hopefully this meal is not the new norm, or that it has improved since this visit. I would love to be able to come here for an...

The young lady isn't friendly at all. Understand that walk in during dinner time required to wait. My hubby and I wasn't planning for Japanese food it just happened when we drove by and saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try.

Then we approached by a young lady and I said we don't have reservations and don't mind to wait then she just slap us the our face that "Oh we don't have any place for you "and full stop.

We said we don't mind waiting but her attitude doesn't seems like welcoming us just hope to turn us down and get lost.

Won't recommend...
