Pauline’s catches the eye with its trendy take on Chinese fast food — modern decor, stylish plating, and a menu that looks exciting at first glance. Unfortunately, while everything looks great, the actual taste doesn’t quite live up to the presentation.
The stir-fried dishes lacked depth — you expect bold, wok-fried flavour, but instead get something more muted. Chicken feet were on the dry side and could use a lot more moisture and tenderness. That said, the set menu does come with a free drink, which is a nice little catch and adds value.
One highlight? The service. All the waitresses were genuinely polite, cheerful, and yes — undeniably cute. So while the food didn’t leave much of an impression, at least the atmosphere was warm and easy on the eyes.
A note for management: the washing sink area needs serious attention. It was soaking wet and potentially hazardous. It’s not hard to imagine someone — especially elderly diners — slipping and getting hurt. At the very least, a non-slip mat, “wet floor” signs, or regular mopping would go a long way. While the toilet was clean, the sink was clogged with food bits and lacked paper towels. These little hygiene and safety touches really matter in the long run.
Overall: nice place to try once, especially if you’re curious about modern Chinese fast food — but there’s room for improvement in both the kitchen and the facilities. For me, I don’t think I will return...
Read morePauline is one of the latest fast food restaurant. After 3 months, i finally made to Pauline as the line to the store is usually long during meal time. Hence, I dont really fancy coming to Pauline. The environment is great, spacious and bright, and waiter is very helpful and quick with their hands. One thing that I dont like is the temperature of the place which is extremely cold, especially if you are seated close to the side on the left. Maybe i should have asked change place but that is the only table that they have. Food wise, it is Penang cuisine centric, good and bad. I particularly like char koay kak, but its not available. Thence i resorted to their char koay teow instead. It comes with mantis prawn which was a surprise, and sizable portion. Instead of cockles and lap cheong, they supplemented with dark soy sauce stew diced chicken, i think. Wish they could fry with a little less oil, as the koay teow is too oily that it does not bring out the charred wok hei. The herbal chicken mee shua was a little bland, perhaps they could boil a little bit more ginseng herbs in the soup. Anyway, overall it was a good meal. Not too rush and i still have time to pen down my review. If not for the coldness, i would probably...

Food portion is considered small for the price. We ordered few items. But overall is insufficient. What surprised us is the porridge portion superb small, bout 6 tablespoon finished, and its very watery. The pork deep fried intestine just 3pcs, cost RN11.50.
The fried laksa taste is better but not appealing. Sweet and oily. .4 taste chicken rice, please look at the photo and the portion of meat. Polo bun definitely not made by them, is like after bake and travel put long. Soft not like usual polobun texture.
What good is free beverage with each meal order. At least balance us a bit for expectations.
Not worth for long time queue. For food paradise Penang, improvements needed for sustainability. No more comments guess you...
