Taiba Shawerma Restaurant مطعم طيبة — Restaurant in George Town

This is the only Arabic/turkish food option in the food court in which it is situated.. we went late almost during the closing time, so maybe that’s why the ambience was not so fulfilling.. food was good but could have been better for the prices that we paid.. it’s okay to try once and decide.. we had the special Arabic shawarma which was cheese loaded but was low on chicken… we also took the Mandi (suggested by the restaurant) and it was better… but the chicken in the Mandi was too stiff for our taste… it was not soft and juicy …the quantity is less compared to other Turkish restaurants that I tried in Penang for the price paid… staff are courteous...

I really do not understand how other people rate this place so highly, going by my recent experience on ordering a meal using FoodPanda from this outlet. The portion size was very small and the hummus I ordered did not even come with any of the flat bread supposed to be included with it. The chicken shawerma at RM15 was no bigger than a long cigar and bore no resemblance to the picture on Food Panda.

Update: this is the order, the price of the small portion of hummus was RM10 and the rest of price made up by price of shawarma and delivery. Past orders Taiba Shawerma MYR25.43 Delivery by Foodpanda Dec 1, 2019 1x Chicken Shawerma...

I know we're all still in CMCO mode so it was nice to try out this neat street food offering. I've had Shawarma's in several Middle East countries in times past. Wholesome food and my dish was a very reasonable RM 15 / wife's rice & chicken dish was just Rm16. Washed down by Umbrah + local coffee (with usual slug of condensed milk!!) . Total bill RM 38. Not crowded either @ 10.30 p.m on Friday night! Thanks Mahmood, Abdul Rahman & Sharia. 3 lads from Syria needing support. Good luck fellas. Back again soon.
