New hotel so everything is just new, room is comfy and spacious but is facing residential condo, so the view is basically seeing someone watching tv in living room or watering plants by their balcony :) Originally booked for Superior room, reached early before 12PM and requested for early check-in, and was really surprised that they ask for RM200 for early check-in! This is the very first time a hotel asked for $$ to check in early. Told them no, n murmur about complaining, and suddenly there's a Deluxe room available for early check-in but, require RM200 to upgrade. Felt like being conned, but still, is better than paying with the same room size... =.= The total add up is just the same amount as booking online for the Deluxe room by the way.. Breakfast is just OK with less choices that expected, only 1 chef at the egg station so will have to wait when there's more crowd. On the Saturday morning, found that cleanliness was questionable, plates not properly cleaned n many tables were missing cutlery settings (probably caused by the busy seafood buffet on Friday nights?) When checking-out, the receptionist did not check room record properly and did not want to re-validate the credit card to cancel the pre-authorization amount, just keep saying that it will auto cancel after 3days. But what the staff didn't realized was there's some amount to pay because we upgraded during check-in. Stood and waited in the lobby, after a couple mins only the staff checked in the system and realized that there's settlement left and quickly called out to me. Verdict: All in all, new hotel, pretty design with good potential but unfortunately, found that the staffs have not been properly trained (seeing seniors training new staffs nonchalantly). Noticed from other reviews which mostly complaint about the services as well. Hope the management would notice and make a change.

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL EVEN WITH THE STELLAR REVIEWS AND 4-STAR RATING. IT IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE STAYED IN. Came here for a stay after looking at the stellar reviews. Apparently, the reviews are probably fake and orchestrated. When we first arrived, check-in was done efficiently and took little time and the staffs mentioned all the "complimentary" items and facilities that they seem to be so proud of. However, things took a terrible turn when we got into our room. There were disgusting oil stains which were not wiped thoroughly on the door. Furthermore, the flip tv offered does not allow for screen mirroring. Also, plumbing seems to be a major problem for this hotel. You simply cannot shower without risking flooding the entire bathroom. On this point as well, when the bath tub was in use, water couldn't stay in the tub and started to flow into the drainhole but the water came back up from the other drainholes in the bathroom, flooding the entire bathroom and made a huge mess. Also, if you would like to risk burning your skin when trying to turn the hot/cold shower tap, this hotel is the go-to. The temperature control of the water tap is just the worst possible. One slight twist and it's boiling hot and slightly to the right, it's cold as ice. When we tried to reach out to the management and asked for a change in room, the worker refused - stating that they had a full booking today and therefore had no more rooms to change to. The very fact that the worker came up with such absurd reasons and blatantly stated that the hotel was full on the spot without even checking on the system was definitely poor customer service, rude and had apparently zero respect to the consumers who booked the room in good faith. They also did not offer any remedy to the issues and we had to stay two horrible nights in this hotel.

Update: The longer I stayed, the worse the experience. It's unfortunate for a hotel that gave me a good impression on booking and on arrival but the inner workings to have a good stay is absolutely missing. Biggest issue was the water heater / shower system. I thought that running out of water halfway soaping was only existing in comedies until it really came true and happenedto me. It's really no joke when you can't wash off due to a sudden lack of water. To add salt to the wound, I was told from other reviews that this issue had been there for months.. it's really poor maintenance.. Will definitely not return ! ____________ This place is trying to rival Hard Rock Hotel ! The decor is fabulous. Family suite room is spacious. Even got tea set.. so cool. However, drop one star due to: 1. Room heater issues 2. Hotel ran out of room towels, ran out of extra beds... 3. One family suite only has 2 glass cups and only 2 bottles of water. Too few. 4. Every refill need to call operator. Each refill only 2 bottles per trip. Took more than 30mins for them to come. Other hotels that I've been to provides a water dispenser on every floor. So convenient. 5. Room phone has no label to even tell user which number to call the operator. Answer: Press "0" 6. QR code for help, pops up another WhatsApp number which couldn't be verified if it's legit Jazz Hotel official help number. 7. Coffee maker instructions are missing fundamental steps of filling the water tank with water and to plug it into the electric socket and power it on. 8. Tap of wash basin mounted too close to edge of basin, making it exceptionally difficult to use without splashing water outside of basin. Overall: This hotel still has ways to go to reach Hard Rock Hotel standards. The finer points are missing.

This were the things we experienced and observed during our stay which dampened the whole experienced quite significantly. I hope improvements will be made because it would be a waste to have such an amazing premise but not supported by an equally impressive team of people.||Pros:|I was instantly impressed upon arrival at the hotel. Its jazz concept is very well carried through especially at hotel's common grounds. The ID (furnishing and finishing) and piped in music completely filled the air, transporting me to a bygone era.||Room was sizable, as is the bathroom. Bedding was comfortable,AC works well, bathroom is fairly well appointed.|Check in was a breeze and receptions team were always efficient and professional. Friendliness and warmth differs.|In the coffee house, one lady who is behind the eggs counter was very efficient. She seem like the only competent person in the entire place as she manned the eggs, nasi lemak, roti canai altogether.||Cons:|This were the things we experienced and observed during our stay which dampened the whole experienced quite significantly.||- Even though the lounge at level 29 closes at 12am, by 11.45pm while I was still having my drink, the staff turned off the music, indicating it's time to leave. Perhaps because I was the only guest but that shouldn't be the case.||- The coffee house is where most improvements need to be made. The coffee machines were not checked before the start of breakfast and often malfunctioned. On a Friday, there was only 1 floor staff walking around. He cleared some used plates but not the rest. He seemed a little oblivious and not focused. He and others (on other days) walked past the coffee machine and although cups of spoilt coffee were lined on at the counter, none of them attemped to clear it. The cups kept increasing as more and more guests experienced the malfunctioning coffee machine. Breakfast spread could also be improved on by offering some variety from day to day.||- The foreign staff at the were very polite and helpful. The local staff however was not as impressive, friendly to mat sallehs but not to locals (in my experience).||- Housekeeping replenishing was not thorough enough, sometimes forgeting to replace face towel, other days not replenishing drinking water.||- The phone in the room wasn't working. Despite informing front desk, it was never fixed until the day we left.||- The rooftop pool area is not well maintained. Seats were broken...

Staying here for 4 days 3 night. I booked room without breakfast as I had terrible experience with food in my previous visit to penang island. So me and my wife decided to give try their breakfast. We went to their restaurant that located at level 2, approached a lady at the counter and informed her our room without breakfast and we want a breakfast for 2. We paid RM 76 for breakfast @ 2pax. Once paid the lady just said enjoy your breakfast, so we know by her gesture no one will bring us to table or introduce what they offer for breakfast. The breakfast experience is not so good where should I start from? Coffee machine I'm not sure when the last time they service this coffee machine as the service required notes keep on popping out. No one check or refill the milk either, I have to inform the staff twice to refill the milk, to make the things worst there is no coffee cup refilled. Please service your coffee machine I had very bad experience with coffee. -Food There are plenty of food but not refilled on time. I came jn around 9am and there are dim sum that not refilled till we left around 9.40am. Food quality need to look into as well. There is no chilli sauce, when I approach one of the service staff and requested her she went to check and cameback with there is chilli sauce at the counter. I told her I just checked there is no chilli sauce. She again told me you can take from the counter. Hearing this my wife decided to approach the girl in the hostess counter as she is the only one with jacket. She went and check and came back with an answer we ran out of chilli sauce and due to festival leave purchasing is not open and there is a delay in delivery. As a guest do I need to know this, there is a Tesco just opposite of hotel and how long it will take you to buy one. Not for me now but for guest who want to eat something with chilli sauce. The curries for roti canai shall curry salty and chicken curry watery. -Staffs Lack of basic customer service, hardly see any staffs who really smile. There is a staff at buffet counter who prepares nasi lemak and roti canai who hardly smile, I approach her to order roti canai there is serving spoon inside chicken curry, I told her that there is only OK as answer I got from her.

My recent stay at Jazz Hotel Penang left me with mixed feelings. While the room itself was clean and well-maintained, the check-in process was a complete disappointment. Here's a breakdown of my experience:

Upon arriving at the hotel at 5:10 pm, I expected a smooth check-in process since the standard check-out time is usually around 12 pm. However, to my dismay, our room was not ready, and we had to wait for an entire hour. This delay was frustrating and inconvenient, as we had already arrived quite late in the day.

During the hour-long wait, the hotel staff provided numerous excuses for the delay, which was disheartening. It seemed like there was a lack of organization and communication within the hotel's operations, leading to such a long wait for a room that should have been prepared well in advance.

Despite the disappointing check-in experience, I must acknowledge that the room itself was clean and well-maintained. The housekeeping staff seemed to be doing their job efficiently, ensuring that guests could enjoy a comfortable and tidy environment. The cleanliness of the room was certainly a positive aspect of my stay at Jazz Hotel Penang.

While the cleanliness of the room is commendable, it does not compensate for the unprofessionalism and lack of promptness during check-in. As a paying customer, I expect a higher level of service and attention to detail.

Considering the delayed check-in and the staff's inability to provide a satisfactory explanation or resolution, I find it difficult to overlook these issues. The hotel management should prioritize improving their check-in procedures to avoid inconveniencing their guests and address the lack of professionalism displayed by the staff.

In conclusion, Jazz Hotel Penang left me with mixed feelings due to a delayed check-in process and a lack of accountability from the staff.
