Please note that the following things may have affected the quality of food & our dining experience, which in no way is the fault of the restaurant. We ordered takeaway which took us 15mins to get to our hotel after being freshly cooked We ate 15 min after reaching the hotel (30 mins total)
Having that said, here's what we ordered, and the review (prices are from Grab app itself) Fish Fillet Fried (RM29.57) Roasted Rack of Lamb (RM61.37) Charbroiled Ribeye Steak (RM87.87) Mixed Salad (RM14.73) Extra Sauce (RM 6.36) Total: RM 224.6 (after tax and charges)
Review Service: 5-STAR The staff were pleasant and very helpful with their timings and menu (Google & grab had operating hours and menu mistakes) They answered every single question I asked and even gave me the best timings on when to order to avoid the crowd. All the food questions and ingredients were answered perfectly.
Waiting & Delivery time: 5-STAR The cooking time was speedy, and the order was ready to collect in less than 15 mins The restaurant is located near our hotel (Bayview Beach Resort), so travel time was also not too bad despite a little traffic
Food Quality: 2-STAR The Rack of Lamb had so much fat in it that they should have named it to Fat of Lamb and recommended a cholesterol test after eating it. There was not much meat and more than half of it was wasted. Not worth RM60+ As for the Rib Eye Steak, my father (the local steak connoisseur) mentioned that it was too dry/not juicy and wasn't that pleasant to chew and eat. Definitely not worth RM80+, with that pricing I'd expect the steak to take us to heaven and back with each bite. If not heaven itself, at least it's waiting room. Fried Fish fillet contained too much batter, and once removed, not much of fillet to consider a meal. With that much batter, one would be looking for a baseball to hit. Salad was ok
Overall Rating: 3-STAR Whether it was the cooking speed (not cooked well enough), cut of meat, or things out of their control (delivery & takeaway) …we tried it once; And for us, THE SHIP Batu Ferringhi has...
Read moreWelcome to the Karen Diner or the no service restaurant in Malaysia.
First, there is no reservation, don’t bother trying. Quoting the original sentence from the manager “We don’t have reservations, even Agong come also need to line up” very RUDE statement to claim and don’t respect the king of the country. Just say politely that the restaurant practice a first come first serve basis and we would accept it.
When I walk in, they point me to a corner table, 2 tables with 6 chairs ( 6 of us ), but I asked if I am allowed to sit in 3 joining tables, so 6 of us could sit properly and not cramped together. The staff say ok, and we seated. Suddenly the manager came over and say the table is reserved, ask us to squeeze back to the side. When asked why people allowed to reserve a table, they say someone came in and their 40 friends are coming over in a short while to join him. ( we left at 9pm, these 40 friends never came in, maybe the place is haunted and we don’t see them dinning, then we are sorry )
Ordering wise, we got a captain that is rude as well. I asked if there is warm water, since I am the only one drinking red wine and the rest would prefer a warm or ice water. The captain reply “We are western food, we don’t have ice tea or warm water”. Hello, you could politely says that you only have bottled mineral water. And I have been to the “western / United States” they serve ice water as well
Food, I could say average western food. For the price, I expect more.
Atmosphere before entering the restaurant is the only thing I liked for the restaurant, so I posting here for you all...
Read moreWhat a lousy restaurant. Its only value to Malaysian’s is its nostalgic feeling. Besides that, everything was quite possibly close to a horrible experience. They charge RM21.90 for a saucer plate of “Shrimp Cocktail” which in their definition is 5 pcs of close to rancid boiled shrimp on a bed of brown lettuce with a giant dollop of thick pink paste that’s supposed to be the dressing.
When you ask for anything, they’ll reassure you that you have to pay for it, as if we are not paying customers & are beggars in the restaurant. The staff… I don’t even know where to begin. The guy with the glasses that acts as the so called manager is absolutely useless, we even complained about the salad being utterly disgusting as it wasn’t fresh and all he said was “you want me to remove it or not? Confirm or not?”. So if this is the manager, don’t expect much out of the rest of the staff below him.
The steak ordered was to be finished medium rare. Instead I got a sad steak that was grey and literally blue (raw) in the Centre. Again when I told the manager, his response was “what do you want me to do about it?” Lol.
So all I can say is, if you’re willing to pay a high price for the worst food & experience you’ll ever have, be my guest. But for absolute sure for the rest of this existing life, I’ll never be visiting this sad reason for a restaurant ever. I genuinely hope they close down or be bought out by a responsible restraunteur.
DISCLAIMER: I’m not even a picky eater by any standards. I enjoy economy rice and mamak any day. Not being fussy but this is truly a...
