Had dinner at Habitat Bistrot with my wife for her birthday on 08/09/2025, and it was such a wonderful experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We spotted fried calamari on the menu and were initially hesitant to order it because of too many bad experiences elsewhere in JB. I asked Ryan if it was fresh, and he assured us it was—saying they get it daily from the “pasar,” even joking that the only thing frozen in their kitchen is the fries. That immediately gave us confidence, and he was right—the calamari was fresh and delicious.
We also had the fish & chips and aglio olio, both of which stood out compared to what we’ve had before. The tartar sauce was really unique and paired perfectly with the fish. The food here feels thoughtfully prepared and of great quality. While their western food shines, they also have a few Asian dishes on the menu, which makes it versatile for everyone.
A special mention to Ryan for his exceptional service—polite, friendly, and always ready to explain the dishes with a smile. He truly made the dinner even more enjoyable.
Overall, I’d give it 5/5. This place has become our go-to spot for good western food in JB, and we’ll definitely keep...

Environment: Simplistic, loft style design, with lots of greens to bring out the Habitat in the design. Chill music, cosy vibes, cool atmosphere.
Service: Their manager, Brian, was extremely friendly, patiently replying to our questions, and provided excellent suggestions for our orders.
Food: Don’t get me started boiiii! BEST Fish & Chips in Town! Having studied in the US we all know Catfish, or Patin, is the best, & they use exactly that. The fish itself was flavourful, fatty, and fresh. For the batter there was a choice to do an upgrade into a beer batter, which is the way to go, that will make the whole dish much more elevated (Crispiness 1000)
The other must orders are Patin Tempoyak, Portobello Sandwich (even for a meat guy, it was 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼), & the Korean Cold Noodles (Not in pic cause we devoured it)
The drinks were well crafted to pair with the food. We had hamsap boi (assam boi with caramel). The desserts were fantastic too!
Don’t come if you hate good food! Definitely drop by if you have good taste & actual standards for food...
Read moreOur orders 🧾 🐟 𝐆𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐢 𝐈𝐤𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐤, 𝐑𝐌𝟓𝟖 ⭐️ Silver catfish cooked in a fermented durian sauce that is curry-like in terms of consistency. The fermented durian sauce is thick, sweet and also savoury with a bit of spicy kick. There is a hint of durian fragrance but nothing overpowering in case you can’t take durian 😉 The sauce goes so well with their Beras Adan Heirloom white rice and so appetizing! I also love the fish that is fresh and tender 😋
🐟 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 & 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬, 𝐑𝐌𝟑𝟗 ⭐️ Also using the silver catfish. Very crispy and light batter with tender fish meat that is well cooked and not dry ❤️
🍄🟫 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐌𝟐𝟑 Soft & juicy mushroom with crispy batter. Served with fragrant truffle cream sauce on the side
🐑 𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐲, 𝐑𝐌𝟐𝟖 The mutton satay is thick albeit slightly chewy on some parts. It has a sweet marinade flavour and doesn’t have a gamey taste
🐟 𝐈𝐤𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐨𝐧, 𝐑𝐌𝟔𝟖 The catfish is grilled with Pais sauce and served with ikura and rice coated in durian sauce. The durian flavour is not that prominent here
