Service was friendly but the food is mediocre at best. We had the Aki set. What was served was not worth the price tag.
The chef explains every dish, including recommended sequence to taste as they are served. Service was prompt by the serving staff. I appreciated these.
However, no matter how expensive, or how it is best-in season ingredients used as they were described, most dishes failed to bring out the flavour. They are often overshadowed by an overpowering seasoning like salt or sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I like yuzu. But maybe the chef can rethink of using yuzu in too many of the dish.
Dinner started off with a 3 mini dish appetiser. I’ve not had baby squid served like that before and I had enjoyed it. While my friend liked the fried fish cracker dish, i find the flavour too strong and salty to be served as an appetiser.
The sashimi came served with jelly that reminded me of ume (i can’t rmb what was it made of), which was interesting and appetising. But from here on, unfortunately, it went a downward slope.
The squid sushi was somewhat served with salt and it surely had too much of it. I could only remember the very salty aftertaste.
There was a sushi served with scallop, foie gras and their specially crafted sauce. While we have liked the texture of scallop and foie gras, the sauce took away of what little sweet tasting flavour left in the scallop.
The torched fish served in mini don had a nice melt in the mouth texture but the rice was a little too oily.
In my head what I described above was 3 stars for food. Had to takeaway one more star when I was served Uni still so cold in the middle and the very basic soup that came with fish and prawn so overcooked.
So, yes, I would not recommend this restaurant if you enjoy you think of the freshness of sea when you...
Read moreEnjoyed an exceptional lunch at Kamii Sushi, just a short walk from Sutera Mall. We had reserved in advance, and upon arrival, our counter seats were ready and waiting. The view of the chefs preparing each dish added a wonderful touch to the overall experience — precise, calm, and fascinating to watch.
The winter lunch menu was a standout. Highlights included luxurious cuts of OTORO and CHUTORO, both incredibly fresh and flavorful, as well as melt-in-your-mouth A5 Miyazaki beef. Every dish was beautifully presented and clearly crafted with top-tier ingredients and care.
The atmosphere was peaceful and refined, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely yet high-quality lunch. Whether you're looking for a special treat or a place to impress a guest, Kamii delivers on every level. Definitely a go-to for premium sushi in...
Read moreOrdered rm788 chef selection but being served disappointing dishes (might just be worse than a fixed set menu). For the sushi part only two pieces of mediocre nigiri were served. Thin Kobe beef was overwhelmed by sweet soy sauce. Ikura in the kaisen don was just too salty. Basically the taste of most dishes served was not balanced. Chef stopped us quickly while we gave comments (they might not like other guests to hear) just said ‘okay noted we will let the kitchen knows’. Well, overall the worst omakase I ever tried. Two stars is the max for the fresh scallop served in sashimi platter. Quality and taste not match with the price. I do hear comments from friends saying the 200+ set is okay. If u like to try out this restaurant probably just goes for...
