My RM800 “Fine” Dining Experience (2 pax): This so-called “fine dining” was only worth RM80 in my opinion, but instead they “fined” me RM800.
They didn’t use premium ingredients—not even normal ones. Instead, they served things you wouldn’t even want to eat daily: palm oil stem, mint leaves, potato skin, and quail meat.
Other dishes? Just mashed potatoes, white fungus (白木耳), tomatoes and satay. Yes, only that. The satay meat was so tough I couldn’t even bite through it.
They said they don’t serve premium dishes because “local food can also be very special.” Honestly, the only thing “special” was how expensive, slow, and tiny the portions were.
On top of that, the etiquette was appalling—talking while preparing food, which means you’re likely getting a free “extra ingredient”: saliva.
And if you’re planning to celebrate a birthday or anniversary here, forget it. They don’t even take the effort to remember whose cake it is. They just bring out the cake and ask, “Whose is this?” Ruining the whole surprise!!! No birthday song, no atmosphere, nothing. Honestly, you’d be better off paying RM80 at Hai Di Lao. You’ll get way more value, service, and at least a proper celebration.
When I looked through the “good” reviews online, even the photos looked suspiciously similar, like they were staged or manipulated. Meanwhile, all the bad reviews read sincere. After all, someone willing to spend RM800 for food isn’t likely to waste time writing a negative review unless it was really, really bad. And trust me, it was. I felt cheated.
To make things worse, it looked like they hired people with no cooking experience at all. Honestly, they seemed barely 20+ years old. My mum could cook faster and definitely better than them.
Unorthodox Wild-to-Table Dining in JB 🚨🌚✨ 🍽️
You should definitely visit this casual fine dining restaurant with an open mind because you’re about to taste some of the wildest innovative combinations like scallop ice cream with Kaya, weaver ants sashimi and much more ‼️
While some of the eccentric dishes may sound bizarre, they were surprisingly actually palatable and I honestly had a fun and eye-opening adventure through the exciting exotic tasting menu meticulously curated by Vietnamese Chef Bao. 👨🍳 🇻🇳
The restaurant’s concept and interior design exudes speakeasy feels as guests are ushered through a secret backdoor leading to a dimly lit room with walls showcasing a row of photos of the various ingredients used in their latest seafood-centric menu. 🦐 🐚 🐠
After being briefed about their philosophy in using fresh, premium local produce sourced across Malaysia and how 99% of their menu is made from scratch, we were escorted into the intimate, black-themed dining room with a communal counter top and open-kitchen for an immersive experience 😍
@apocalypse.jb totally challenges and redefines the current F&B landscape and I loved the ingenious, culinary creations bursting with delicious dimensions of contrasting flavour profiles and impeccable textures 💯
For an even stellar dining experience, the latest menu is the first to be introduced alongside a stellar cocktail pairing, where all 5 handcrafted cocktails paired exceptionally well with the respective courses enhancing the overall dining experience 🍸 👍
I won’t spill too much about the menu as you should experience it yourself and better make it soon since this seasonal menu is available till 27 January 2025 😉

Read moreWe spent around RM1200+ for a 3-person dining experience at apocalypse. It was a Tuesday, so it was just the three of us girls catching up as we hadn’t seen each other in a while.
Previously, we had tried their other restaurant, Sun Concept Dining, and while the food there was average, we decided to give apocalypse a chance. The food was slightly better but still felt sub-par overall. We had an 11-course meal, though not all dishes stood out.
Keep in mind I’m not a food connoisseur, but ain’t the first dish supposed to be appetizing?? The Vietnamese rice paper topped with wagyu, edible flowers and natto was sooooo bitter. I couldn’t taste the wagyu at all as the bitterness consumed me lol. Other dishes like the bamboo shoots, scallop and eel were also sub-par, nothing to write home about. However, I did enjoy the duck gnocchi. The crispy duck skin and gnocchi in pumpkin puree were quite delish.
While I have a small appetite and don’t mind smaller portions, the 11-course meal felt more like an "experience" than a place to fill my tummy.
What truly disappointed us was when a friend found a thread post by the restaurant owner calling us "low standard" and expressing frustration with us dining there. We arrived at 7:30pm and left by 9:30pm, well before their closing time. For a restaurant that advertises itself as a "fun dining" experience, it’s strange that casual conversation among friends was met with disdain. There were no indications that the restaurant required a quiet dining atmosphere.
I find it unprofessional for the owner to publicly criticize paying customers and hope this feedback is taken...
