Superb bitter gourd soup and fried pork at Restoran Feng Sheng at Johor Jaya.
After failing to savour this a few times, we finally managed to do it today, and came away very impressed.
They are known for their bitter gourd soup and fried pork as it’s kinda a JB thing here to eat this side by side. And it’s possibly the best renditions of both here.
The soup is very flavourful and refreshing with the bitter gourd thinly sliced and so enjoyable to eat at that. And we opted for the liver and innards which gave this clean and savoury soup a meaty dimension to the flavours.
Pair this with the best fried pork in Johor that we have tasted so far and it’s an unbeatable combination. The batter is so crispy and airy that it recalls the best tempura there is. And the Nan ru is highly discernible that it gives this dish a very welcoming and addictive umami.
We tried the San Lou bee Hoon and it’s a very good version too. Not the most crispy but the seasoning and flavours are spot on.
All three dishes for a very wallet friendly 37rm, which works out to be slightly more than SGD$10. Highly satisfied meal here.

Went at 6pm and wasn't crowded at all. Had a sambal Kang kong, bittergourd soup with fish, fried pork (must eat!!), 2 bowls of rice, and 2 drinks. Total bill was 40 ringgit - and our most expensive meal of the day already 🤣
Pork was nicely fried, and bittergourd soup wasn't too bitter - still much digestable despite me not liking bitter gourd. Go for it if you like some really value for money zi char.
