肉骨茶 Bak Kuh Teh 1 person (Basic, No Rice, No Addons) = RM20.00 麻油鸡 Sesame Oil Chicken (Regular) = RM17.00 (They charged me lesser at RM12.00 because I was a Solo Diner) No Service Charge
The Eatery itself is Noticeably Crowded on a Friday Morning at 8.00am although Not Full House and I was still able to easily get a Seat. The Staffs mostly comprised of Myanmar Folks who are Polite but keep to themselves. The Whole Operation is being run by an Attractive Chinese Lady who is probably the Lady Boss.
The Moment I stepped into the Place, the Lady Boss Immediately Very Warmly Welcomed and Guided me to my Seat. She provided me a Menu when I requested and Very Clearly and Patiently provided the Default Prices for all the 2 Dishes I ordered.
The Eatery itself looks like an Old Kopitiam and while Not Airconditioned, felt Airy and Comfortable. It took about 9 Mins for both Dishes to be served up, which was quite impressive considering the Amount of Customers when I was there.
肉骨茶 Bak Kuh Teh 1 person (Basic, No Rice, No Addons) = RM20.00
Whenever I order BKT from a New Place, I don't order any extra Addons. I prefer to taste the Basic Broth and Meat on their own first. Because if the Basic Foundation of the Broth is No Good, adding all these Chapalang Addons will not improve the Dish any further.
Because I ordered Basic BKT with No Addons, the 1st Impression is that the Presentation is Very Plain. Its just 4 Pieces of Ribs + Soup and a Sprinkling of Spring Onions. I reckon this is 1 Rib that is cut into 4 Pieces.
The Soup is not the Very Deep and Herbal Klang-Style, but its also Not a Simple Soy Sauce Based Broth. Its not Overly Porky and has a Somewhat Meaty Taste to it. Not Overly Robust, yet also Not Too Bland or Light.
What I like was a Very Mild Subtle Undertone of Herbs that you can taste. No Idea what herb it is, but its Presence helped Carry and Elevated the Soup.
The Pork Ribs are not Fall off the Bone Type of Tender although they are still Tender and Soft to the Bite. Not Dry, Not Overly Porky, Not Overly Salty, they have absorbed the Broth Well. This is an Acceptable Pork Rib.
麻油鸡 Sesame Oil Chicken (Regular, No Rice) = RM17.00 (They charged me lesser at RM12.00)
Compared to the BKT, Sesame Oil Chicken looks Alot More Presentable with 4 Big Pieces of Thigh and Breast Meat.
The Soul of the Dish is that Beautiful Sauce! It's Salty but Not Overly So. I love that the Sesame Oil Taste is Not Overly Vulgar but Very Elegantly Subtle. Not Overly Chickeny and has a Strong Undertone of Garlic that gives it a Very Umami Taste. Slightly Viscous, this is an Amazing Sauce to 下饭 with!
The Chicken Pieces themselves are Very Soft and Tender and are Soaked Very Well with that Lovely Sauce. I especially love the Parts of the Chicken where the Skin and Fats Clump together making this Really Delicious to Eat.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At the Base Price of RM20.00 (S$5.70) for their Basic BKT without Addons, I felt its Expensive. It's nice and there is effort, but I don't feel there are enough Meat Pieces to really warrant the Asking Price IMO.
The Price of RM17.00 (S$4.90) for their Sesame Oil Chicken though is Absolutely Worth the Money! I feel that THIS should be their Actual Signature Dish. The Sauce is so Good and I LOVED their Fat Chonky Tender Chicken too!
Although the BKT isn't worth the Price of Entry, I still feel these 2 Dishes Paired Well Together. The Robust Saucy Sesame Oil Chicken chased down with The Light Herbly BKT Soup with lots of Rice would make this a Very Satisfying Meal.
Ultimately, it is the Excellent Customer Service of the Lady Boss that Outshined Everything Else. Her Willingness and Genkiness to Serve, her Amazing Service Attitude in her Care for Customers left me Extremely Impressed. Alot of BKT Eateries can definitely learn from her.
Don't miss out on their Amazing Sesame Oil Chicken served with a Friendly Genuine Smile! Highly Recommended!

Read moreGreat place for bkt if u dun mind the heat.. although their fans are pretty cooling. Interestingly, they have a tall, and quite good looking lady who walks ard taking order and managing the queue. She's very friendly, chirpy, and hardworking as well. And did I mention pretty? 😍 She also helps out with clearing the dishes as well... So if she's not the lady boss, then she definitely deserve some service award! The other staffs were quite friendly too despite having a busy lunch crowd.
Now... The main thing... BKT! It was cooked in a charcoal fire and the looks of it already made me taste better! You can add ingredient like liver, pork belly, button mushroom or enoki etc... Again, u can order from the lady. The soup was more of the herbal kind, with a slight taste of liquorice (hope I didn't get that wrong). And on the claypot, it came out pipping hot and so yummy! The pork ribs were unlike most I ate in spore that's tough and stick on your teeth. This is easy to bite off and has a nice porky taste to it. I asked for a soup refill and it came out in a little pan that filled up almost my entire claypot again. Very impressive!
They will also bring out a small fish of Salted vege or beancurd, which are actually optional. U just have to tell them that u don't want them, and they will remove. I took the Salted vegetables and they were quite nice and not overly salty or sour too.
Ambience wise... It's a typical Malaysia coffee shop setting with busy crowd.... No air con but it does adds to the whole feeling!
I paid 29rm for a drink, a bkt with button mushroom, salted vegetables and a bowl of rice. Reasonably priced I feel.
Although not the best...but it's still an easy 8.5 out of 10 for me. Will be back again for sure... And hahah... When I am feeling down, the hot soup (and the pretty...
Read moreI frequented the place for the last 15 years and OF COURSE, things have to, need to change. It is now second generation run but the founder still walks around mingling with his regular customers. One thing outstationers (not from Johor) need to understand:- Johorean Bak-Kut-teh is basically WHITE soup. Colors of the soup vary from caramel red to clear meat bones soup There is ginseng or "tang kwei" added to it - that's as much as it will go. No overdose of star anise, cardamoms or five spices. We DO NOT mix and mash up our claypot food. What you want - liver, kidneys, bacon, mushrooms, tau chuk, etc has to be separately ordered. Our rice is either dark yam-flavored rice or just plain rice. And NO, we dont add fried onions and shallots to the rice. Our rice is NOT oily. Our accompaniment black sauce is given with free-fill red chillies and chopped garlic. The black sauce is the Thick, caramel sweet black, NOT the soya sauce loved by those in Klang. Having said that, perhaps our food reviewers would understand how each region deals with its favorite food, albeit slightly modifying its taste accordingly to the local palate. The bones are soft, tasty and the liver is thick-cut, 80% cooked to our liking. The sesame seed chicken is soft, refined with a very light taste. Come prepared not to mistakenly expect the same fare served in Klang or Singapore but delight and appreciate the new profile of this fav food of the chinese with an open...
