Wow this was a very disappointing visit…
We came around 4pm and ordered 4 mains, 2 drinks and 3 pastries. Food was OK - not terrible, but because they only have a cold counter the food was all pre-prepared/toasted dishes like sandwiches and salads. Not very flavourful but thats ok we weren’t too fussy.
What really ruined the experience was the AUDACIOUS service staff. Midway through our meal we ordered another pastry (which was the last one in the display). We finished our meal, waited for another 15 minutes and the pastry still hadn’t arrived. One of us went to ask what happened with our order, and they made us stand waiting at the counter for 5 minutes while they went to “check” what happened to it.
At this point the staff (who appeared to be the more senior/managerial staff) came across very apathetic and unbothered. We asked whether we could just get a refund for the pastry, but she kept asking us to wait because they had to “check on the order”.
BTW they didn’t even apologise for giving the pastry away to another table once. And the tone used with us the whole time was extremely patronising and impatient. After another 15 minutes of waiting, the same staff finally told my friend that they had sent the refund. When we asked to see the proof of refund, the rude staff waved around a piece of paper she was holding and scoffed at us, saying “it says void, do you want it or not” - without even explaining that she was holding a receipt.
It makes no sense that service staff can still be so confidently rude to customers even after making them wait for such a long time - over a mistake they made in the first place! This really left a sour taste in our mouth - we might as well have eaten the Soil in...

Read moreCame here with friends on a random wednesday afternoon, place was not very crowded. The interior and exterior is super scenic with a minimalist garden cafe style, very naturally lit, well thought out design and location. They were also playing chill songs which adds to the atmosphere. I decided to order the Soil’s Superfood and my friends got the Soil’s Big Breakfast with Grilled Chicken and Grilled Salmon Open Sandwich. We also shared the Seasalt Burnt Cheesecake and Hazelnut Nutella Soft Cookie. Soil’s Superfood and Big Breakfast was very similar except for the latter, it had beans and chicken instead of salmon and avocado on the Superfood. The ingredients felt very healthy and refreshing and i particularly liked the sourdough bread which was toasted perfectly. The only gripe i had was with the salmon, it felt a bit thin and small but was seasoned well. The Grilled Salmon Open Sandwich was just the Superfood with one large slice of sourdough and minus the avocado and eggs. The Seasalt Burnt Cheesecake was really good, it was not too sweet and had a hint of saltiness with each bite, very moist, but in my opinion was lacking the burnt flavour. The Hazelnut Nutella Soft Cookie was really bad, it was very crumbly (not like other soft cookies i have tried) and i did not enjoy it at all. The meals and cheesecake were average and decently-priced but the cookie was really really bad especially when factoring how much it costed. All in all, a pretty decent cafe worth visiting once for the views and atmosphere but likely...
