Me'nate Steak Hub @ Bangi — Restaurant in Kajang Municipal Council

I decided to have my birthday dinner at Me’nate in Bangi, as I had heard about the restaurant and wanted to give it a try. I went with a friend, excited to enjoy a good meal, but unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had hoped.

Service & First Impressions

Right from the start, the service was disappointing. It took about 10 minutes just to get a menu, and even then, I had to go to the cashier myself to request one. Once we were seated, it took another 10 minutes for them to clean our table, which should have been done beforehand.

When I asked the waiter for a recommendation between the tenderloin and the premium ribeye (grain-fed), his response was shocking. Instead of offering any insight, he bluntly said, “I cannot suggest because I don’t know your budget. If you want steak, go to the chiller section and select by yourself because we have prices from RM100 to thousands of RM.”

I was taken aback by his attitude, but since it was my birthday, I just laughed it off. Still, a restaurant that claims to specialize in premium steaks should at least train their staff to guide customers properly instead of making it about money.

Food Quality & Taste

For our meal, we ordered: • Angus Striploin • Grain-Fed Premium Striploin • Peri-Peri Chicken Salad • Avocado vs Coconut Drink • Oreo Choco KitKat Drink

The food arrived in decent time, and when it did, the quality was disappointing. The only decent dish was the grain-fed premium striploin, but even that was nothing extraordinary.

We requested both steaks to be well-done, but the Angus striploin was nothing like what we expected. It had zero seasoning, was completely bland, and required the accompanying sauce just to have any flavor—yet the sauce itself was awful. For the price, this was simply unacceptable.

The Peri-Peri Chicken Salad was another disaster. It was just a bunch of vegetables with dried, flavorless chicken—definitely not what you’d expect from something labeled as a “chicken salad.”

The drinks were another letdown. Both the Oreo Choco KitKat and the Avocado vs Coconut had an overwhelming amount of milk with barely any real flavor. They tasted more like watered-down milkshakes than premium drinks.

The Aftermath

As if the food itself wasn’t disappointing enough, both my friend and I experienced stomach issues right after dinner. This raised serious concerns about the restaurant’s food hygiene and preparation standards.

Final Verdict

This was, without a doubt, one of the worst steakhouse experiences I’ve had. For the price they charge, this restaurant is not worth it. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a good steak experience. There are far better places in KL for the same price or even cheaper, with much better...

I came to this restaurant with my mom and sister tonight for a special dinner. Unfortunately, it was truly a disastrous experience for us. Upon arrival, we were left to find our seating without any guidance, despite two of their employees noticed our struggle and cluelessness, offered no assistance at all. I remembered last time when we used to go to Menate, they were the one guiding us with the seats since most of the tables cater for group of 5, which I truly appreciated. But, never mind. I am still okay with it.

After seating ourselves, it took some effort for us to get the menu as the staff initially ignored us. Fine, I called them over to get the menu.

Once we settled our order at the table, I asked about the steak, the staff seemed uncomfortable and unwelcoming, possibly because we arrived later in the evening. Very masam and not friendly at all. Look unhappy. Probably they were tired but hey, I am feeling it too. I wonder since their Google listing stated they close at 11 PM, so this should not have been an issue. Plus, I was hoping they have shown some excitement on the meat recommendation as per reviewed by other customers. Nope, not happening. I chose the meat myself hoping to have the best one.

We ordered a ribeye and a grain-fed steak. One was not cooked to our preference of medium well. We got MEDIUM instead for ribeye. When we pointed this out, the staff took it back. Guess what? We got overcooked ribeye. No more the flavour, the meat tenderness. Instead, the taste was like daging you masak kat rumah. What a joke! Totally frustrated as the ribeye alone cost RM100++.

Our usual go-to is Jaheet, but since I worked a bit late tonight, it was already closed, the operation hour is until 9.30pm only. I am honestly mad, upset and frustrated since I came with my work attire still, tired, hungry and the thought of celebrating my mom. But instead, receiving this totally BAD service. From beginning to the end!!

My advice:- If your staff is unable to handle the operation and customer due to fatigue, reduce the operation hour. Tutup awal If you are not welcoming late-arrival customer, please inform us to avoid wasting our time and money on this POOR service. I will gladly grab any fast food nearby. Harga nak T20. Tapi service bagus lagi kedai mamak.

Fortunately beef nanchos and aglio olio sedap.

Updated as of 17/6/2025: I sent them a message via the number below and been routed to specific branch of Bangi. No response, message was left hanging, no efforts to highlight what is the actual concern, no reply from any reps at all. Their reply was just to mask the public. Only automatic response if want to submit order. Sorry to say, such a lousy service coming...

NIGHTMARE!!! INSAFF!!!

Went on 13/6/22 for my birthday lunch. It was my first time here & suppose to be sweet memory but it went totally disastrous! Workers played ‘Newboyz’ soundtracks (the ones with sengau vocal) & put on MAX VOLUME!! The worst part is 1 of the waiter (in picture, yellow shirt with cap) sang his heart out along with the songs (note: not 1, but every songs😫). I felt like i was at some cheap karaoke jamban. Ofcourse with unpleasant vocals (obviously u like to sing but please choose ur audience wisely). Sikit lagi telinga aku nak bernanah!

Then, other workers was cleaning the chiller (by knocking off the ice) but the knocking noise was so irritating! It felt like in construction site! If u were suppose to clean the chiller on that day, schedule it when there’s no customer lah! Macam nak halau je punyala bising terketuk2!

About the meal, I ordered lamb loin & wagyu burger. Taste were so-so, nothing special. I requested for medium-well but it turned out welldone☹️. Total price i paid was about RM150++.

I tried to give some feedback at the counter, however the casher (in the picture, a lady busy with her phone) didn’t apologize or even respond!! Then tried to submit complain at their google form, as expected, NO RESPONSE as well!

By referring the price that I’ve paid, I expect to have a nice meal (maybe like TonyRomas or atleast Chilis) but to my disappointment, the treatment & the foods were not worth it at all!! I definitely won’t come again, & will share my horrible experience with wise customers like you
