Good: We ordered tomyam and fried beehoon and both were really good. Food quality looks good.
Bad: The restaurant is severely understaffed. Up front I could see only 2 waiters + 1 cashier/waiter/drinks preparer. Probably 2 cooks behind. We came in and nobody greeted us so we took our own seating, waited for 10 minutes and had to call for a waiter to come and bring the menu. Waited another 30 minutes for the drinks. Then waited for another 30 mins for the tomyam to arrive. My phad thai did not arrive.
2 hours after making the order, and asking twice for the waiters to check on my phad thai, the senior waiter came to tell me that phad thai was not available. I asked him to bring whatever they could make fast which was fried beehoon. I was too hungry then.
The restaurant was only 1/2 full on that day. Imagine if we came on a busy day.
Conclusion: If I’m looking for Thai food in Alor Setar, this restaurant will be my last choice. If coming in a big group, make a reservation and probably you should order well ahead. The food quality is good but service is really bad because they don’t have enough...
Read moreWORST restaurant. The service was really bad! It was slow and the worst part was that we didnt get the food we ordered. On top of that, they served BURNT FOOD! Informed the waiter as it has the burnt taste and looked burnt too. After few secs, he came back out with the same burnt egg. After paying the food along with the burnt food, we informed the waiter again and requested to pack the leftover burnt egg. Instead of apologizing, the skinny male waiter kept on complaining and even raised his voice. From before taking the food into the kitchen to coming back out, he kept on complaining and raised his voice saying they have changed the egg. BAD SERVICE AND...
Read moreReally good Thai food! I'll state that first before saying anything else. If you've ever had sudden cravings for Thai food and nothing has satisfied your cravings, do go over to Medina Palace. This is a treasure that the Alor Setarians have kept to themselves. Granted it's in Alor Setar, Kedah, and that's quite a distance from most places. Ambience is good. Clean and quiet. Why 4 stars then? Some items were not available as per the menu, and they could add more Thai desserts, instead of just fruits. Also the beef could have been a tad softer. But whatever we ordered were top-notch. The tomyam...
