Restaurant RT — Restaurant in Kedah

The food was decent quality but everything else about this dining experience was deplorable.

We arrived as a family with four adults and three children ranging from 3 to 12 year old. We were served by a male waiter who was clearly a bit inexperienced at recommending the best dishes (there’s no printed menu so everything is verbal), so we took a little while to decide while we discussed with him. The female waitress (?owner) got frustrated, came to our table and rushed us to finalise the order in very annoyed tone. Mind you we weren’t taking forever, we took at most 5 minutes.

When the food were finally served, the first dish “sizzling stuffed tofu” (铁板豆腐）was not a sizzling version on a metal plate, but a regular tofu with gravy on plastic plate. When we clarified, she gave a lame defence of “oh we can’t use a metal plate cause it’s sticky” - however this simply means we have been sold a different dish than we were sold.

When a second dish was served, she went on a further rant / castigation of us being bad at ordering, as we apparently ordered all “non standard” dishes so expect the dishes to be less good.

In all my year of dining this is the first time we have been accused of “ordering wrongly”. What a ridiculous attitude by that mean waitress / owner.

To add insult to injury, when the bill came we were shocked by how much higher priced it is compared to other similar restaurants in town. We paid 180 for four adults and three children, with a dish of 8 prawns priced at 70, steamed fish at 50 and tofu at 18, all of which are unheard of for Alor Setar.

I will watch with interest how well this restaurant does if the operator keeps up such attitude and...

WE WENT TO RT RESTAURANT FOR IFTAR YESTERDAY, AT FIRST I WAS A LITTLE SKEPTICAL ABOUT THE RESTAURANT BECAUSE WE WERE THE ONLY "ONE" THERE BUT I WAS TOTALLY WRONG. THE FOODS THEY SERVED WERE MOUTH WATERING AND SCRUMPTIOUS. ESPECIALLY THE IKAN TIGA RASA(chinese style, it has a unique flavor you wont get anywhere) and THEIR CHICKEN MANGO SALAD.. THE SET I ORDERED CAME WITH 5 DISHES, DESERT AND DRINK. GUESS WHAT IT ONLY COST ME RM 78!!!! I FEEL LIKE IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. GOOD FOOD AND GOOD PRICE. THE RESTAURANT IS VERY HYGIENIC TOO. It was a very nice place to have meals and the food was awesome. Our trip to Kedah was a nightmare due to all hotels were fully booked and unfortunately the hotel we booked has no water. Ms Kip (I'm sorry if I spelt it wrong) was very helpful in helping us to call another hotel for us. It was not just the food but the hospitality that she shown was much appreciated. Keep up the good work and I will surely recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel comfortable while having an awesome delicacies. Thank you so much.
