I knew ignorant outsiders would leave reviews saying aLoR sEtAr NaSi LeMak IsN't NaSi LeMaK iT's JuSt NaSi KaNdAr. This is the ALOR SETAR VARIATION OF MAMAK NASI LEMAK where it's a marriage between nasi lemak and nasi kandar. The rice instead of coconut milk is cooked with ghee, since "lemak" in "nasi lemak" refers to the taste, so coconut milk isn't a prerequisite to make nasi lemak unlike what most people misunderstand. And instead of sambal like in central Malaysia we eat our nasi lemak with curries, because we're northern folks. That it's mistaken as just "average nasi kandar" is an insult in itself, since we don't use plain white rice like Penang nasi kandar, and our style of curries isn't even the same as Penang. But of course that's very typical of non-Kedahans not to appreciate rice, and when you only have one taste of reference for nasi kandar, all other nasi kandar seems "less than".

Who knew nasi lemak doesn't only come in one version? Definitely not KL folks. Telling the world that you don't know much about food...
Read moreThe 'original' Nasi Lemak Royale. Quick lesson for non-Utara folks like me — the rice here isn’t exactly nasi lemak per se. It’s actually yellow rice, but still full of character.

Taste-wise, I loved it! The herbs and spices were cooked to perfection. I went for my favorite lamb dish, and it certainly hit the spot. Not...
Read moreI am not sure which is the OG Nasi Lemak royale. But this one is quite good, recommended by both grab drivers who sent me here and back Aman. The curry mix is sinful but surely full of flavors. I had a sotong and a fried chicken with rice for rm20. Really tasty. I liked the ice milo (rm3) too. Most importantly food is hot when served. Bro was also friendly even when I slowly selected my food. Well cleanliness can be improved as the flies kept...
