We were hungry and Scarborough was just beside our hotel. Arrived at 12.30pm. Place was abuzz with mostly expatriates.
Got a table seafront. We had to prompt for menu even though server was aware of our presence. After about 20mins hot wait, spouse took initiative in going to the kitchen area to order as we were then ravenously hungry, having missed breakfast upon taking the morning flight.
Ordered pan fried baramundi and iced lime. Was told to instead help ourselves to the canned/bottled drinks from the chiller.
There were groups/couples who had arrived after our orders. However everyone seemed to have been served before us. We only got our meal almost 2hrs later, after two queries on status by which boisterous large group that arrived after us had finished their meal and left!
Came back later in the evening for our dinner at about 6.30pm, only because it was convenient and we were didnt want to drive around looking for food.
Ordered fish & chips and pan fried baramundi with iced lime.
This time drinks came quite timely, our fish came about 20-30mins later as they are prepared upon order.
What we loved was the seaview, how at home and carefree adults, especially kids (mostly expats) were tanning, swimming or playing beach front. Not too sure if this was a normal scene or perhaps because it was NYE.
Food was average. We however loved our takeaway of fat chips & seafood pizza (yummy!!) 🍕
This is where we think we went wrong and had to endure the loooong wait! 1.Try not to go during peak meal hours. 2.Be aware of long reserved tables. There were 2 when we were there. This may mean that they are expecting large groups (may have pre-ordered). Orders only prepared upon arrival. Hence these orders somehow take priority. 3.Order fish & chips as this seems to be the most common order and hopefully takes less time to be served.
Alert: If you are somehow uncomfortable about having dogs around for personal or religious reasons, there is a resident dog who lounges around. It is friendly, minds it's own business and does not bother anyone. However if you are particular, then this could be a concern.
Halal concerns: Batter doesnt contain beer and no...
Read moreWARNING: I am currently suffering from acute keriorrhea after eating at this restaurant. Two of seven of the people in our party ordered Snow Fish (we didn't know what it was) from the menu. As it turns out, the Snow Fish is actually mislabeled Escolar, a fish which contains indigestible wax esters which cause keriorrhea. Only the two people (myself and one other person) who ordered the Snow Fish are suffering from this uncomfortable condition. After doing some research, I found another Scarborough reviewer on TripAdvisor, FoodBloggerEllie, who warned others about the same thing: "Next day after back to KL, I realised I have Kerriorhea. This happens when u consumed Escolar fish...." I am very disappointed about this experience, as I have spent many months in Southeast Asia and have never had any food-related health problems, ever. Besides the Snow Fish, I was also unimpressed with the service at this restaurant. Staff were unenthusiastic, causing me to feel unwelcome at the restaurant. The bill also included an additional item which we did not order, which was a soft drink. If we hadn't checked the receipt, we would have ended up paying extra. The only thing I can recommend about the restaurant, and the reason that we came here in the first place,...
Read moreThe lady boss has super bad attitude. I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. When we order, the lady boss is so rude and poorly presented. To make matters worse, the waiter was dismissive when we politely asked for a sharing plate, and we found out that the lady boss order the waiter not to provide us sharing plate thou we ordered for 4 plates of fish and chips and 11 drinks at non peak hour 415pm and the restaurant is also not fully occupied. This is my fifth time and my last time eating here.
Reply to the owner: Firstly, paper cups were served, none of them are blew away by the “Strong Wind” you mentioned. Second, if you think the restaurant is not ready to open, why you open? Lastly, I am totally understand the bad weather spoiled your mood and maybe your business for this few days, but it isn’t the reason you throw YOUR BAD TEMPER to YOUR CUSTOMERS as you not only selling FnB and also your service! Not to remind you that we pay for “Service Tax” and the total bill is around RM350. Again, thanks for your great service which I never want to...
