Kelantan Trip Day 2 Part 1
Kedai Kopi White House is perhaps an old institution that got many people from all walks of life congregate here for a scrumptious breakfast. The queue has already formed when we arrive slightly after 8am but it was moving quite fast and we got ourselves a table within 15-20 minutes.
Everyone was enjoying their breakfast in jovial mood early in the morning while I observed around.
◾Nasi lemak bungkus at RM3 was a simple yet effective national dish to satiate the hunger of sambal-loving prince in the family. ◾Nasi Dagang Kerutuk - just gotta mix the white rice with the rich coconut milk-based curry and devour that tender beef. ◾Nasi Tumpang marked my first experience with this traditional Kelantanese dish where the rice with different layers of viands shaped into a cone and wrapped in a banana leaf to retain its fragrance. Texture-wise like ketupat where the rice was squeezed tightly to form the cone shape. ◾Nasi Kerabu Golok was good and this time with the blue-tinged rice, but flavour-wise yesterday version was better. ◾Nasi Dagang Ikan - they also have ayam but what's nasi dagang without the quintessential ikan tongkol? Good flavour as it was rich spicy and aromatic but stingy on the gravy. ◾Toast bread with butter and kaya - the bread was nicely grilled and had the nice charred aroma. Came with butter and yellowish kaya on the side which were very delicious by the way. ◾Steamed egg - perfectly wobbly. ◾Drinks were considered passable but my benchmark is very high on this.

Read moreVisited White House Kopitiam expecting a classic kopitiam experience, but unfortunately, it was a big letdown. The service was extremely slow — we had to keep waving for attention, and even then, the staff didn’t notice us for quite some time. It felt like we were invisible. No one came to take our drink orders until much later, and by then, the experience had already soured
When the drinks finally arrived, the Milo was particularly disappointing. It tasted nothing like real Milo — more like flavored water than the rich, chocolatey drink you'd expect. The toast was average at best, definitely not something worth coming back for
Overall, the food was just okay, but the poor service ruined the visit. Sadly, this will be our first and last time here. With so many other good kopitiams around, this one is not worth the wait or the frustration
If you’re looking for proper toast and half-boiled eggs with better service, I’d recommend heading over to 冠香园 (Guan Heong Yuan) instead — much better in both taste and experience

Read moreone of the most OG kopitiams here in Kota Bharu. all the food and drinks are super good, especially their nasi lemak and their bread dishes, my favourite being Roti Gula, super good. their half-boiled eggs are spectacular as well. located right in the middle of old Kota Bharu, in front of the State Mosque, Masjid Muhammadi, and amongst all the historical spots in Kota Bharu such as all the palaces, this place truly is a part of your journey through history in Kota Bharu, with super good food as well! price is okay and the staff is super nice. I've been here since my childhood and the taste has been delicious as ever, and the staff has been the same and friendly as always as well. and also, their Kaya spread is also a signature treat, where people come far and wide just for this Kaya hehe. overall, very good experience here, one of my favourites since childhood and one of the most OG kopitiams in Kota Bharu as well. should should should come and definitely × ∞...
