W Hotel Cemerlang Kota Bharu — Hotel in Kelantan

Quiet location near to many eateries & cafes

The Good: Hotel & room is overall quiet. Bed is the soft type & comfortable for me. Room wifi signal is good. TV had good reception. Good water pressure for shower & wash basin. Ample parking nearby but may need to park further when hotel is full. Good location, less than 5 mins drive to Pasar Siti Khadijah area. Many eateries & cafes within walking distance and a short drive of 5-10mins from hotel. Water dispenser & ironing facility provided at common corridor area on each floor. No sewage smell from the bathroom.

The Not-So-Good: Room was small & narrow, but good thing that it came with window. Corridor & room had damp & musty smell likely from wet carpet or curtains. Need to clean more thoroughly to rid the overpowering musty smell. Bathroom has no shower curtain to separate shower from toilet, causing the whole bathroom area to be wet after shower. Bathroom has lots of stains/mold especially at the base of the bathroom and the sink area. Cleanliness can be further improved. Some guests speaking/laughing too loudly along corridor. Had smoke smell in the room maybe from previous guest who smoked in room or due to inconsiderate guests smoking in their room & their smoke transferred via the vent or bathroom exhaust system. Suggest that smoke detector be installed in each room to deter smoking. Aircon in the room cooled much slower than normal & unstable (sometimes had cool air, sometimes not-cool air); maybe aircon needed to be serviced or have coolant gas filled.

Last minute deal at Kota Bharu but at affordable price (less than MYR100). Fast counter service, room is great although a little bit small, cosy bed and attached bathroom comes with shower cream and shampoo. Located near Pasar Siti Khadijah and the center of city of Kota Bahru, it just takes a few minutes drive to commercial premises eg. banks, convenient store, laundry shops and restaurants. TV has alot of channels.

The inconvenient points of the hotel is no specific parking space for customers but available outside of the hotel (however it is dimmed lighted parking space, so security is questionable here), no elevator for elderly people and customers with small children or having knee problems while carrying heavy baggages, no complimentary drinks in the room except two mineral water bottles, lack of cleanliness as I spotted small trashes along the corridor, slow/WiFi available in the room although it mentions that the hotel has free WiFi in all rooms, water dispenser is at the hallway together with...

Stayed there for 1 night as a transit before we catch an early flight the next day. To sum it up, u get what you paid for. This place gave us a great 1st impressions staffs were friendly, check in and checkout was fast and seamless although the room was small, the dock was tasteful and bed was comfy good location as it was at the centre of kb. Few minutes walk to kebun sultan and few minutes walk to kopitiam kita Unfortunately, the cons were plentiful there were stains on the bed, the floor and the bathroom there were cockroaches in the bathroom sound proofing was bed, but still bearable. -worst of all. There were bedbugs on the bed. Only noticed that after getting a lot of bed bugs bite on our back and arms after we checked out from the place. The hotel needs to look into this and improve their cleanliness and do regular checks on their beds for bedbugs.
