Update 5th Feb 2025

Located one floor above 99 Speedmart along Lorong Dato Sulaiman 1 is a cafe called Aperture which serves authentic Thai food on top of the usual freshly baked pastries/desserts + sandwiches.

What I like about Aperture is the fact that it has a cosy settings - plonk yourself on the sofa, take a seat at the window, or just take a regular table to enjoy the food (and/or drink). They even have an alfresco area filled with potted plants.

With nice coffee - flat white and iced latte - it felt nice to spend about an hour or two there.

Old review: I love my food, I love my wine, I love my whisky, I love my everything and that's include my coffee. For starter, I never depend on coffee to kick-start my day with the caffeine, and I can go on the day without a single drop of coffee. But it's good to have a cup of coffee once in a while.

Amidst the pandemic, many places are struggling to stay afloat and the struggle is real. So this Aperture cafe was just a short drive from where I was... Located one floor above 99 Speedmart along Jalan Datuk Sulaiman TTDI. I heard chatters and laughters as I pushed the door open showing the staircase leading upstairs.

It seems that everyone was already in year end festive mood, making themselves comfortable in their seat while enjoying the foods and drinks. I took a look at their menu and the foods were pro-Thai, with the regular coffee, tea and other juices plus cakes and pastries on display.

There was this outdoor corner with the plants and herbs where they can utilise to cook their food, and I love how they have this "Adopt a Plant" rack. You can enjoy your coffee alfresco style but some will actually use this space to smoke.

I'd tried their latte and cold brew tea alongside their signature banofee cake and pineapple tart. The banofee was very good and not too sweet while the pineapple tart ticked all the right boxes.. coffee was good which was a good thing and the 1.5 hours just passed by...

I made reservation before going for 4 pax, hopping to find quiet place.. instead it was hot, sunny, noisy... the lady waiter thier noticed me but she totally ignored me and didn't even put simple effort attending or offer me seat until i proceeded to counter to order mentioned that the other 2 will arrive soon, many in that cafe were families & friends consists of more than 3 sitting on one table! The girl waiter herself sat joining her friends on a small round table .. the moment our third friend came to join us on the side by side table that waiter came and gave us in a rude way not to sit more than 2 on a table.. looking around right & left .. they were all more than 3 in one table .. including that waiter with her friends! Such a shame the way they treat thier customers! Another male waiter was kind trying to explain .. but the rude experiance I got from that girl waiter makes tgis place big X no to me... even when we decide to change cafe and go to other more respecting one .. i decided to give her last chance at the counter .. instead of apologizing she started to argue with me to prove that I'm wring because she was only 3 and i said there is another 4th coming on the way ..Daaa not yet! Anyhow .. this cafe is surely got to improve the way they treat customers.. as customers look forward to decent place with respect not to pay your money in a place which...

This is a gorgeous cafe hidden upstairs with vintage vibes and an artistic charm. When I walked in I was in awe of how beautiful the layout was. It's something you need to see for yourself!

Moving on to food. They have lunch sets every weekday for RM20 and offer thai food during lunch. I got the padkrapow rice. The chicken was nicely seasoned and flavourful, although it looked lighter than the usual padkrapow. Rice was on the drier side; would have loved for it to be fluffier. The ice lemon tea that came with it was surprisingly good. They use actual lemon and actual tea to mix the drink, and not Heaven & Earth. I also ordered a hot cappucino, which was well balanced and strong, as well as a banana walnut cake, which I found a tad sweet for my liking. Service was overall great. They have very well-trained staff.

Overall, I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back for more, maybe to try their breakfast...

Went to this cozy cafe at TTDI. Located upstairs, the deco of the place tastefully done. Parking was abit difficult even on a weekday fyi. Menu consisted of bfast dishes, thai cuisine, snacks, drinks and an array of desserts readily available at the cashier counter and also you place your order at the counter. Had their khao yum gai yang or as we call it here the nasi kerabu with ayam percik. Price was on the higher side but it tasted good; must haves on the plate are the freshly chopped up ulam and budu sauce. Mix it all up and enjoy! The asam pedas fish was good too and the portion was generous. To end off our lovely meal, we ordered the bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream. It is a nice cafe to have a lovely meal and get together with family or friends. Not forgetting the staff were friendly and polite. Worth the visit and it is a place you can go back to again.
