Food has an exquisite taste for all the dishes we had. From entreé, soup, main, dessert.
chilli prawn : may look simple dish, but i kid you not it is full of flavour that you keep guessing what’s in it till the last bite 😂. It’s their signature dish btw. I agree!
Mushroom soup with truffle : not your ordinary soup. Again, full of flavours that you cant figure out what they put in - mushroom yes, truffle yes, but it leaves that smokey, bitter (nice bitter) that fades after awhile and it leaves strong after taste after. Just marvellous.
Wagyu plancha : pinggan licin. Need i say more? It comes with mashed potato with truffle oil (yummss!!) and wagyu i had just how i liked it perfectly!. Also their signature.
Cod fish : perfectly cooked and it comes with one XXL prawn i think. It’s huge. Also, licin.
Lamb : also perfectly cooked. Sauce is creamy but may be tad sweet for some. Also, licin! ( i didnt eat this, but the person who ate this said it’s so good.)
Duck : person who ate this is a first timer eating duck. And he is picky and fussy. He said it’s good, and i had the veges, kid you not… IT IS GOOD. I mean it’s the same sauce on the duck and vege. It looked perfectly cooked for me.
Crepe suzette as dessert : oh my God! By God’s grace, this is foodgasm. It is sweet, sour and bitter that comes few seconds later (for the drizzle). The orange gives you the sour-ishness, that gives yin and yang to the dessert. But the drizzle sauce, it is something. Still cant figure what’s in it. Definitely not truffle 😂 (after doing so many truffle runs in one sitting in one night 😂).
Pandan mocktail (dont know the name. Recommended by Shawpan) : distinct pandan taste with a bit of sour-ish. I love it! It’s something what a sorbet would do to wash down the palatte.
Yuzu mocktail (also Shawpan recommended and just mix it for us - dont worry guys! No alco!) : haaaa this one i tell you ~ citrusy (duhhh!), sweet, sour, salty. Light and harmonious taste.
Beautiful ambience, i love the dragon painting especially. It gives you that energy, good energy. There’s private corners and also private room too. Limited tables. But great service. All food were recommended to us, and we didnt look at the menu even 😂. We put our trust on them. And not a slightest bit of regret.
Kudos to chef Daniel for the amazing foodgasm. It is really good food. Every single one of it. It’s like “guessing game”. Know know finish 😅.
Thanks Shawpan for the great service. You guys should look for him if you dont know what to order. He’s the menu wiki 😂.
Will definitely be back to try the rest in the menu.
Note; this is not a paid review. Just an honest review where it’s due. Also note, we are bunch of food critics. Not nice, sure say...
Read moreGesuto is this contemporary Japanese-fusion restaurant with such beautiful, original, and most importantly delicious, dishes.
We started with their warm, toasty sourdough served with this smooth and umami-filled truffle kombu butter (RM25)
Before moving on to their avocado (RM26) served with crispy shallots, pomegranate, topped with sesame and Rayu dressing. Loved the contrasting tastes and textures between the perfectly ripe creamy avocado and the crunchy refreshing pomegranates
For the mains, my favorites were the:
Strip Loin Beef (RM128) with mashed potato, green asparagus, & crispy chicken skin. Nicely done medium rare, good marbling, melt-in-your-mouth rich robust flavors and it was SOO juicy I loved it.
Gochujang-marinated Rack of Lamb (RM25) With a smooth, silky pumpkin creme, and black garlic. Again, the meat was cooked perfectly - consistent and juicy throughout
The truffle paparadelle (RM68) almost too pretty to eat – served with egg yolk, truffle oil, nori seaweed, micro green and sprinkled parmesan cheese. a light, simple and elegant pasta dish.
I wasn’t a big fan of the Duck Leg (RM48) because it was served with pasta and felt like a reallyzA heavy. Like the other dishes it’s cooked well, but I didn’t like the flavor combination
Beautiful presentation on all the desserts, my favorite was the Panna Cotta (RM38) presented in snow & gold with a Chinese New Year theme. It was sweet light and airy dessert with honeycomb, earl gray, and coconut snow shavings.
Overall, it was such an amazing dinner with great music and energy - perfect for dates, special celebrations, or just a nice meal out with...
Read moreWe were not served according to the degustation menu choices. One of the dish was swapped with another dish (crab soup alike) instead of pasta truffle. We were confused by the explanation from the server that he said the menu change every now and then. But we were not informed earlier when we ordered the Degustation menu that one of the dish will be swapped. The menu had clearly listed the dishes that was supposed to be served that night.
Nonetheless he sensed our disappointment and he asked the kitchen to prepare the truffle pasta. While we appreciated his service recovery but not after the uncomfortable feeling of being misinformed, in this case not informing. It was a birthday celebration and it kind of ruined the experience. Also there was a new server in training, while we understood the need to train, but the experience was not good as she served some of our dishes in hasty, the plate was just put in the middle of the table instead of putting it in front of us. She served us water when we have a bottle of distilled water on the table.
We paid almost 1k for two sets of degustation meal and left the restaurant feeling uncomfortable. The least is providing some basic good service, afterall this should be a fine dining level which unfortunately not for us.
The Jan degustation menu has some hits and misses. The last course which was the dessert, the cream/ice cream was already melted by the time it was served.
The server gave us some 30 ringgit discount to make it up I guess but its not the discount we are looking for. Its really the service level, food and...
