It's nice to see that many new cafés are coming up and some try to set themselves apart from the rest by having menu's that are niche and different from the rest. One of these new and uprising cafés is Dough & Dolce.
You can easily miss this new cafe as its located upstairs from the very popular street with its already established popular cafés on the street level. In fact, you can hardly see it from the car unless you drive slowly and look up. Once you find a hard to get parking lot and up the narrow staircase, you find yourself at a simple cafe. Simple decor, simple furniture and lots of people. The place is so echoey that it's hard to hold a conversation as loud people will be voice contested by even louder groups of customers. Popular places like these really need to think about sound deadening the walls. Put more items or sound absorbing material to ensure guests have a more delightful experience.
I guess I know why the decor is so simple and minimalist. They want their food to be the centre of attention and let me tell you that the food is the center stage.
Spotlighting several dishes, I'll start with the butter cream cili clams with sourdough bread. It is outstanding! A small cast iron pot filled with plump fresh clams and a gravy to die for. Creamy, buttery and slightly spicy. Quite well balanced. Not your typical creamy clams with cili flakes (I do that at home). There is enough heat to create a slight sweat and cut the creamy taste of the sauce. The sourdough bread which they make it in-house is one of the best I've tasted. Soft fluffy centre with chewy skin and delightfully salted makes it the general items that pair itself with the clams, mushroom soup with truffle oil and crabmeat scramble eggs with cili oil and sandwiches.
The crabmeat scramble eggs with cili oil sits on top of a slice of sourdough. Chunky pieces of crabmeat and the creamy texture of the scramble eggs and heat from the cili oil is well accompanied by the large slice of sourdough bread.
Even the mushroom soup with truffle wasn't spared from being mopped by up the thick, full of flavor sourdough bread. The mushroom soup was thick and truffly. It is very easy for someone to wolf it down quickly.
The cafe latte was great as well and the beans chosen to make the espresso shot was nice and sweet. 5 stars is all I'm allowed to give as the ordering via QR and needing to pay first before order is being sent is very troublesome. Else I...

From the first sip of their luscious latte to the last bite of their heavenly apple pie, this café promises an experience that lingers in memory.
The allure of Dough & Dolce begins with their well-priced coffee selection, where each sip is an exploration of rich flavors and velvety textures. The latte, a hallmark of any great coffeehouse, impresses with its smoothness and full-bodied essence, reflecting the dedication that goes into every cup.
While coffee takes center stage, the selection of pies and cakes stands as a testament to the café's culinary prowess. Among them, the apple pie emerges as an absolute must-try. Airy, light, and astonishingly tasty, it earns a place among the best apple pies I've had the pleasure of savoring. Each forkful is a journey through layers of flavors, leaving an impression that lingers long after the plate is empty.
The café's ambience further enhances the experience. Rustic and comfy, the atmosphere invites patrons to settle in and relish moments of tranquility. On a recent visit, I found myself ensconced just in time before a heavy downpour. Sharing a romantic tea with my wife in this charming setting felt like an escape into a storybook scene.

Read moreI am not the right person to review this modern Kayel lifestyle coming from a kampong upbringing. Though I have been around Europe/Asia/US most of my career. Humble and thrift is my way of life. RM3.00 nasi lemak rather than RM30 breakfast and scramble eggs is not my style even in my business suit. Anyway I cant find the space in my stomach to fill the "Omputih" giant portions and at least RM20 will be left untouched on my plate. Wasted! My family kidnapped me to come here for breakfast. I tried to order "spaghetti with creamy sauce" Cannot! Thats the lunch menu. How about a "pizza"? Cannot! Lunch menu. Gave up and got my daughter to order a suitable breakfast for me! But I insist on tea as my preferred lubricant. Dont fancy "mocha", "latte" or anything to do with cofee. Only pure tea without milk, so it was decided "green tea", funny though it said "English Breakfast" but no Earl Grey at least. None! The "Big Breakfast" tray came. There was a biiigg scramble egg, a few slices of bacon, I am guessing "Saveloy" or "Kolbasa" sausage ( since it an English breakfast it should be "Saveloy", Kolbasa is Hungarian). a potato cake "quarters" and an A4 sized home baked crust bread. The bread was the toughest piece of man made material after Kevlar. I used a serated steak knife and this material keeps trying to escape my plate. Tried using both hands, it still wouldnt split in pieces. Then I notice I got the crusted end of the bread but still doesnt explain why I couldnt cut it with a steak knife. Pass!( Hate it). Not my...
