Used to like the food here. But recent family dinner experience is closed to bad. Well we ordered Thai style sweet n sour sauce fried mayau fish with pineapple. It came with steam style n when we commented that's not what we ordered, the lady boss simply put all the blame to the chef who is apparently her brother plus without apologizing. Next bad thing happened when a simple kailan vege dish came. We ordered size Big portion as there are 6 of us. But hey it came with small portion and guess what the lady boss again this time said we ordered small and couldn't be bother acknowledging her mistake when taking our order. Come on la can't you be more alert and make more sense for 6pax portion? The rest of other dishes luckily turn up to our expectations i.e steam 3types egg (sumwong egg), fuyong egg and marmite chicken. Bill comes up to RM185+ To be honest we ordered simple dishes including the fish which turn out not the one we ordered. For that we felt short changed for that and mind you the restaurant setting is not to say very fancy or nicely decorated. It's just a simple setting restaurant nested inside a condo, Bangsar Puteri. Personally we felt that the lady owner should wake up and improve on you customer service especially during current FnB situation. People are struggling to have more customers and you here being so complacent. Btw, we also overheard she complained to next door table customer abt her rental is too high now despite appealing to management to drop it since business not good. Not surprise lo the way u do business. Disappointing indeed as it wasn't that bad and we are their regular customers for our weekend family dinner. For anyone who plans to visit this restaurant, just beware of the lady boss when ordered your food. Don't say l don't warn you ya...
Read moreIt is hidden away at the bottom of a condo building, and walking in, one is not impressed by the 70s decor and equally tired fluorescent lighting. But the meal started off with strong notes.
I enjoyed the complementary sweet pickled mangos that were so retro but addictive. The Squid Kerabu had perfectly cooked pieces seasoned with a lime concoction made moreish by tiny bits of bunga kantan that didn't overwhelm the delicate seafood. The Stir-fried Okra arrived plain looking that I started to doubt my order. But one bite revealed a perfected cooked consistency with full of flavor that could convert a non-okra eater. The Sambal Prawns packed flavor with a good rempah used and a tinge of tamarind for some fruity acidity, enough to almost make you forget that the stick bean was present. The Kangkung was perfectly cooked with a good hit of fermented tofu, Lam yee, enough to make you go back for more.
And the pièce de résistance: Chili Crab. The blogger had highly recommended this and I had to give it a try. The dish arrived with pieces of baked mantou bread that has been flash fried to develop a unique crust. The Crab was moist and sweet, coated with a thick sweet chili sauce that was not too sweet or spicy, full of ginger and garlic that we slopped up with the bread. With such goodness, we didn't seem to mind getting down dirty with the challenging seafood. This dish really hit the spot as everyone commented on how long ago they ate it last. A huge box ticked off tonight with this dish.
No surprise that the place was full on a...
Read moreBangsar Venicia, a long-standing fixture within Bangsar Puteri Condo, enjoys undeniable popularity, likely due to its convenient location, consistent food, and extensive menu. Parking is ample, a definite plus. While the atmosphere is basic, the restaurant's longevity suggests a loyal clientele. However, the seating is in dire need of an upgrade; despite chair covers, the worn cushions offer little comfort, making for an unpleasant dining experience. Considering the restaurant's steady business, investing in new seating would significantly enhance customer comfort. Portions are on the smaller side, and prices, while not exorbitant, aren't particularly budget-friendly. It seems the primary draw is its location, catering mainly to the residents of the...
