Background Positioning itself as a lively izakaya, it promises the boozy camaraderie and grilled skewers typical of its genre. With yakitori as its centrepiece, it targets both after-work drinkers and casual diners—but does it deliver authenticity or just atmosphere?
Ambience The decor is a sensory overload of Japanese pop culture—walls plastered with vintage posters, anime memorabilia, and neon signs. It’s fun, if a bit cluttered, evoking the chaotic charm of a Tokyo back-alley pub.
Service Friendly and efficient, with staff happy to explain the menu or recommend drinks. Orders arrive promptly, and the team maintains a cheerful, unpretentious demeanour.
Food & Drink The yakitori selection is extensive, though execution is inconsistent. Vegetarian options exist but feel like obligatory additions rather than thoughtful creations. Where it excels is its drinks menu—sake, shochu, and highballs are well-priced and pair easily with the snacks.
Overall It’s a solid choice for drinks and light bites with friends, especially if you like its quirky decor. But you'll leave wanting more if you’re seeking exceptional yakitori or a hearty...

First things, I discovered that Butaya Izakaya is part of the same family as Teppan Sabaka. If you've enjoyed Teppan Sabaka before, you're in for a real treat here. The connection ensures the same high level of quality and flavour you've come to expect from Teppan Sabaka. It's like a reunion with an old friend – comforting and exciting!
Butaya Izakaya's interior and menu bear a striking resemblance to Teppan Sabaka. This is a good thing because it means you can count on that same mouthwatering taste that you love. It's like getting your favorite meal in a familiar and inviting setting.
Now, here's a huge bonus: the parking situation. Unlike Teppan Sabaka, you won't find yourself waiting in line for a parking spot at Butaya Izakaya. Parking is hassle-free, making your dining experience all the more relaxed and convenient.
If you're a fan of Teppan Sabaka or just looking for a friendly, familiar, and consistently excellent dining experience, this is the place to be. You'll leave with a full belly and...

On to the review… Ambience: This place has a really good ambience, and gives off the authentic izakaya vibe that you would find in Japan.
Service: Waitresses are attentive enough, but do expect to struggle a bit when communicating as they are not complete fluent in English, otherwise it’s good enough as they also take the time to explain any promotions they have.
Food: Pretty good! The food arrived rather quickly and honestly surpasses my expectations. Meat was tender and was not disappointed with anything I ordered. Drinks options were also very plenty.
Price: Very, very reasonable. I would even say that the prices here are some of the cheapest you can find for an izakaya in Klang Valley, which is very rare these days.
Conclusion: All in all, would definitely come back...
