Gold Standard Pho — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

My new go-to Vietnamese restaurant. 🇻🇳

Ordered the classic pho and was blown away by the taste and tenderness of the beef slices. The broth was also very good, and the accompanying chili sauce/paste is worth adding to the mix, or used as a condiment for the beef slices.

The noodles felt ok in terms of chewiness, but was slightly soft in my case. (But I definitely have a preference for a more crunchy/hard noodle, like when pasta is cooked al dente).

Only thing that was not so impressive was the raw bean sprout meant for the soup. It didn’t seem very presentable, with some parts darkened, as if not the freshest. Other than that, everything was top notch.

The traditional egg cream coffee was also good, and worth trying. A little on the sweet side, but it is well balanced against the more bitter...

Had recommended item menu. Service staff were relatively attentive and very polite. The pho is one of the better ones that I've tried in KL.

What I liked about it? Quality of the ingredients, especially the meats. I'm not a huge fan of tendon but oh man this one was so so tender. The meat balls are not overly processed and taste like they're made from choice meat.

What I think could be improved? The broth was slightly lacking in terms of its flavour profile. Plenty of richness, but was not balanced. I even tried squeezing two limes to give an acidic counterpoint but to no avail.

Plus points for having sriracha sauce on the side, and not some cheap knock-off chilli sauce like many...

Poor attitude waitress.. Face was literally black when we walked into the shop at 830pm and we were the only table. Very unfriendly throughout the whole dine in.

We ordered the mango salad and the peanuts were unfresh like it was place for months when we point out the problem her face was in different and she shows a very dark face.

My husband ordered a beef soup which the soup was so hot that he scalded his finger as the soup spilled as the table was uneven and some of the hot soup went into my eyes. The waitress just stood there as if it doesnt concern her with a black face.

Worse service ever and serving unfresh food is unaccepatable.
