I remembered this was one of the earliest places I got my hands on some good Korean fried chicken in town. I believe they first gained popularity due to their fried chicken and I was not surprised. Their fried chickens were always freshly fried upon order and beautifully breaded with crunchy yet light batter. The sauces here were all decent but my favourite has got to be their soy garlic and spicy garlic. Both sauces absolutely enhanced the fried chicken taste and the sweetness paired very well with the crunchy texture. Depending on what parts you get the meat can be juicy or slightly dry. Currently they are changing their business model to also offer a buffet option. Aside from the fried chickens, you will also get an army stew with an assortment of ingredients including pork slices, luncheon meat, tofu, bean curd sheets, king mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, instant noodles and vegetables. The soup base came to life once I put in their spicy miso paste. The flavorful umami flavors coupled with the refillable ingredients made it a good choice for a warm satisfying meal on any day. One dish worth mentioning was their kimchi which I find to be better tasting compared to other kimchi served elsewhere. Overall, I am pleased with the quality of all the food here but their highlight was certainly their...
Read moreThe food is good, love it but it's not the best Korean fried chicken though the army stew is notable. The customer service is non existence. We dine there last night and was the only 2 customers. The aircon was switched off by the serving girl when the owner walked away from the counter and this was while we were eating the army stew (you can imagine the sweat), and was only turned back on reluctantly when we asked.
Is the aircon only for the comfort of the owner and not for the customers? I find it odd that the paying customers are not treated with respect or honoured; and we were their only dine in customers last night? Shouldn't they be happy to serve us? Instead we felt like an intruders for using their aircon.
Definitely a 4 stars for the food and a negative 5 stars for service. Our last visit to this restaurant for sure. While i feel bad for giving a bad review (and taking the time to do it), but i felt that they need to reflect on their customer service and what is lacking of it if they really want to survive during this pandemic.
Good food and great customer service are the key. Good food and bad customer service will just drive the paying...
Read moreWent here for dinner with friends, the place boasts an authentic old fashioned Korean restaurant vibe to it with the design of the decor and and posters of Kpop idols from the 2010's
Walking in here you feel the welcome by the staff who are Korean making the experience feel more real. We ordered the kimchi seafood soup and it was packed with flavour and not too salty suitable for people in all ages to enjoy.
The pancake jeon was a good snack but the one we ordered with cheese lacked flavour, however the the texture and chewiness made up for it as with was rich
I would personally recommend their garlic fried chicken as it was explosive hence the name of the restaurant "Chicken House Solarid" the meat being crispy, flaky, and flavourful to the bone.
Would definitely come here again for a quick chicken...
