Chin Swee Vegeciting @ Publika – Disappointing Birthday Lunch Experience

We visited Chin Swee Vegeciting at Publika for a family lunch to celebrate a birthday. First impressions weren’t great—parking was difficult, though the dining ambiance was decent. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. Prices were steep considering the small portions and average taste. The cost per person, including four children, came to over RM40.

We had high hopes for their popular Yam Basket dish, but it turned out to be a letdown. The rest of the dishes were similarly mediocre, leaving us feeling short-changed.

After the meal, when I went to the cashier to settle the bill, I learned there was a birthday promotion: a complimentary plate of longevity noodles for the birthday celebrant. While the gesture was appreciated, the execution was poor. As we were already getting ready to leave, I asked if the noodles could be packed for the birthday boy. To my surprise, the staff curtly dismissed my suggestion, citing company policy—the noodles must be consumed on-site, immediately.

Of course, we declined the offer, and the rigid response added to an even poorer impression of both the restaurant and its management. Needless to say, we won’t be returning—and we wouldn’t recommend it. PS: No photos taken as it...

Double Triple Check your bill before go.

Unpleasent dining experience. Forgot one of my order and charged me double for that dish.

At first, my friend asked the lady to remove that dish that they forgot to serve from the bill. And then, my friend just proceed to make the payment after the lady made the update on the bill without any hesitation.

Somehow, i peek at the bill then only i noticed the lady charged us double for that dish that they forgot to serve in the new bill 🤷🏻‍♀️

Spent lots of time try to make the lady understand to returned us the number that she charged plus taxes is really an unpleasant experience to customer where she returned money only single dish at first and then later she finally get it, she only returned the number that she charged double. BUT, without returning us the taxes 🤷🏻‍♀️ alamak

Chin Swee Vegeciting, located in Publika, is a branch of the Chin Swee Temple vegetarian restaurant in Genting Highlands. The decor is very calming and clean. We received very pleasant service and good recommendations for food. Dishes can be ordered to go with rice and there are personal rice and noodle meals too. They provide some unique vegetarian dishes in the menu. Food was very delicious and fresh especially the home made tofu which had the most delicious black mushrooms. The saussurea seed and apple steam soup was excellent and uniquely served in a tea pot with tea cups. Prices are in line with the high quality of food.
