Was at Dome BSC for brunch today. We rang the call bell to place order, no one came about. So we waited about 10 minutes. I gestured to a waitress who was in the vicinity and was ignored. She was scrambling about doing a table set up for a Dato and 6 pax who had a 11.30am reservation made the previous day. From across the table she just pointed out to us to make the order at the counter and this was seen by the manager. While my son went to place the order, I called out to the restaurant manager and asked for their SOP since it was ECMO. He said all orders are being made and paid at the front counter. I also asked if the table of 6 will be required to do the same and he said Yes. He apologised for any misunderstanding by bringing a dried out chocolate cake (which was supposedly their best seller) as a goodwill gesture. We declined the complimentary dessert as we didn't ask nor did we insinuate. When the entourage were seated a waiter came immediately to take their order at their seated table.
My complaint here is to create an awareness that if you're at Dome with a 'title' the waiters and managers will treat you according to your title. As for ordinary citizens they are required to follow SOP settings. An outlet that practices double standards blatantly.
So folks think twice or maybe thrice if you're just an ordinary person patronising this...
Read moreI always have the chicken pie when at Dome, and today was no exception. It was delicious, as always. The straw in my Coke today was a good size, compared to the oversize straw in the Espreski I had on my last visit (which was so large it somehow spilt every time I stopped drinking).
The atmosphere got a poor rating because the air-conditioning could barely be felt, and seemed to blow in fits and starts. Perhaps having an open frontage in our tropical weather isn't the best idea.
The service today, by a young lady named Gabriella, was incomparable. As is usually the case with Dome, many servers seem unaware that the vegetables which normally accompany the pie can be upgraded to potato wedges for a small additional sum. Unlike my previous visit, when the manager insisted I couldn't substitute the vegetables for wedges, Gabriella took the initiative to find out whether an upgrade was possible. (It was, and has been for the last 20-odd years!) In addition, Gabriella got all my requests right, showed remarkable initiative for one so young, and was pleasant and well-spoken. She should be promoted to manager, as she did a far better job that the actual manager from my last visit. Well...
Read moreSimply put, the service was poor. It started fine as my mum food came out quickly. Then 20 minutes later the other food hadn't arrived. When I asked, they tried tell me that I hadn't ordered my food but the beef pie was in. Why 2 people food for a table of 3. 45 min and the beef pie came out. 15 min after that my big breakfast comes out. This time they blame the kitchen. My advice to Dome? When marking excuses, you need be on same page. If my food hasn't been ordered, how can it be sent back? My food was poorly cooked as it was so obviously rushed. This is not the only Dome. Don't come here. Btw half the restaurant was empty. One year later I went today. Not main food. Curry puff and hummus. All their food guys walking around like there's nothing to do. But we didn't get our food. Had ask Captain why the so free when our food hasn't come. Sloppy place. 2nd chance.......
