Here for dinner after passing by a few times. We ordered their combo for 4 family which include 4 main + wings + 4 free drinks.
Food - overall good Ultra rib is good, well marinated with their BBQ sauce, recommended. Meat is nicely marinated and tender, fall off from bone easily so eating with fork n knife or hand is not messy. Crispy buttermilk fried chicken is very crispy indeed crunchy on every bite, dip it with cheese sauce for more flavorful taste. But is slightly too dry and thin. Would be nicer if it is crispy outside juicy inside. Aglio "porky" Olio Spicy option is good I guess, because personal preference. It is spicy so taste different than normal aglio olio with that kick. Then it has a soft boil egg on top so mixed it up to harmonize the spicy flavor a bit. Served with baby rib of same marinated sauce of ultra rib which is good, meat is also tender. Creamy Mushroom Spaghetti is a good spaghetti recommended 👍 because it is served with soft boiled egg so mix it up with creamy mushroom sauce definitely go really well together. The egg add more creamy flavour which for those who like creamy taste this is a go for. Wings must try, we ordered mix wings all give good thumb up 👍 very nice
Drinks We ordered simple soft drink. But the Hai Lam iced is bland
Service from their staff is good. They do manage customer well include those waiting outside restaurant (chair provided while waiting). Good job
Environment Because it is a BBQ restaurant so expect slight smoky smell inside shop, cloth do smell a bit smoky after dine in(not that bad, at least it is not those heavy stink of oily smoke that stick on your cloth). Would be nice if owner can look into this and do some slight change on ventilation to improve this. Decent clean at least you still can be comfortable dining here, because is a normal restaurant shop not high class fine dining.
Price is reasonable because at least you are paying for good food. Unlike those "viral" food place cafe/restaurant, pay high price for mediocre food.
Overall good restaurant good food worth to eat. Good...
Read moreI've been wanting to try since I heard about their roadside stall a couple of years ago. Today I was near enough to try. Reached the shop at about 6.15pm, there was only me, 5 minutes later followed by a family of 4. Yes believe the other reviews which mention parking is atrocious eventhough they are on the quiet street side. So pro-tip, don't wanna wait for a table? Either put a reservation or go early. For my first trip, it's pork bones or none and judging by the cooler box behind the grill they only have set amount of quantities, so again please go early. The meal comes with coleslaw (which I didn't eat, because I don't), mash and a slab of pork ribs. They give you gloves but just use your hands eventhough you are on a date. The pork bones were well marinated and charred nicely despite some reviewers saying that they weren't. So again, go early so that they don't rush. The meat is close to fall off the bone, very nice. I had to use very little force to twist the bone from cartilage. There is also softbone which is totally edible. The menu is not extensive but I get why; from a business standpoint beef or fish relies on the shop selling massive quantities to make up for days they don't. Freshness of fish is an issue and the geographical area suggest beef may not do well there. The meal will set you back RM25 which is quite value for money considering the portion. Servers are friendly and always ready to help, again provided you are early. Overall if you're feeling the need to carnivore over days of controlling your diet, take a gamble on these young chaps. Your almost guaranteed to finish your meal down to the bones. (ugh sorry for the bad pun.)
Revisit 1/10/2022
The quality has dropped by quite a lot. The ribs have increased price to RM34 which is still ok. The taste has changed, the rice bowls, better to...
Read moreUltra ribs, 8/10: Classic bbq ribs. Sweet and roasty ribs which complemented w the coleslaw and mash potatoes. Can’t go wrong w this. Good portion too. However; the last time I was here, the price was RM20 or less. Now it is RM34. Inflation hits hard. I do not enjoy the papadam and the fried mushrooms. It would have been better if they were seasoned with some kind of seasoning powder.
Chili cilantro ribs; 8/10: Interesting flavour. Very Thai. Loved the flavors nonetheless. Same issue w the fried mushroom and papadam. No seasoning and bland.
Mushroom soup; 7/10: Creamy and a tad sweet. Full with mushrooms as well. Comes with toasted bread which was buttered. Yums. A tad sweet for my liking but still good.
Grilled pork sausages; 6/10: Nothing special. Normal pork sausages that is scored and bbq. Still good to eat but nothing special. Probably won’t order this again.
Total for 2 pax: RM110. Summary: For an increase of RM14 (not counted tax), an additional papadam, fried mushrooms and fries, along with an air conditioned restaurant and the cost of meat, RM34 is a good price for the portion and quality they’re serving. Although I didn’t really like they had a lot of fried sides, but it is still acceptable. The last time I visited, they were at a roadside stall. No air cond and no service.
What can be improved: Less fried food sides or atleast season it. Maybe instead of fried food, can include toasted potato bun or macaroni. Too much fried food aint...
