I looked for a nice yakiniku restaurant on Google Reviews and decided to try this one for a birthday celebration. I made an online reservation and used the special request box to ask for a corner seat for better privacy, even though it was subject to availability. When we arrived, there was only one table occupied. I informed the waiter about our booking, but he didn’t ask for the details and seated us next to the table that occupied. We tried a few items: wagyu, don, and an appetizer. The food was okay. The wagyu wasn’t extraordinary, but the appetizer was surprisingly the tastiest. The don was just average. During our meal, two groups of customers walked in and sat next to us. There was only one waiter serving us, and I saw a few staff in the kitchen. I felt sorry for the waiter having to manage everything alone, so I can’t blame him if the service fell short. Think I’ll stick to other restaurants for better food quality and service, as the price difference isn’t significant.

We had high expectations after seeing great reviews, but sadly, this was the worst Japanese wagyu experience we’ve had. The restaurant offers Japanese wagyu at RM130–160 per 100g (depending on the cut: lean, tender, or premium). We ordered the combo set, which included 100g from each category. **Lean: It was kinda hard, but acceptable **Tender: tough and rubbery, to the point we had to spit some out **Premium: overwhelmingly greasy without the buttery, umami-rich flavor one expects from Japanese wagyu. We couldn’t even finish it. (just look at the photo of the cuts, you’ll know) Any yakiniku places in Hartamas would beat this and more reasonably priced. Service - when we asked a male staff member some questions about the menu, he appeared confused & didn’t respond, and just walked away before we finished ordering. He even got our order wrong. Other menu items were actually decent (or is it due the poor beef we had) , such as the Sakura ebi corn and engawa don

Gyu Yakiniku Restaurant @ Aurora Place Atmosphere: Located on the ground floor. The restaurant’s ambience exudes a posh yet contemporary Japanese architecture and design that many can relate to when stepping into one. Service: Service is prompt and attentive. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to recommend dishes when inquired. Owner Wan Ying is warm, welcoming and friendly. Food: They are better known for their BBQ Wagyu served during dinner but as it was lunch we ordered the recommended dishes; Iki Gyu don which had thinly sliced smoked beef and well seasoned rice. OMG Engawa Don which smoked engawa fish that was really tasty. We add on the lunch for RM 3 per dish that came with a miso soup, chawan mushi and refillable green tea.

I had lunch at this restaurant today and it was a very disappointing experience. I ordered just one set menu, but even after 30 minutes my food still hadn’t arrived. When I asked the manager-looking staff (a Chinese employee), there was no apology at all—he only said the food was delayed because one staff member was off that day.

What frustrated me even more was that people who came later than me were already served and eating while I was still waiting. It felt like there was no proper owner or manager, just inexperienced staff running the place.

When the food finally came, I had to rush through it because my lunch break was almost over, and I left feeling like I might get indigestion. The food itself was not tasty, and honestly, I would never want to visit this...
