Went to a’rest cafe 2 times in total, first time was a great experience, food was great, me & my gf sat on the sofa area which is quite difficult & uncomfortable to have a meal, but its ok, we were late around 9pm. We just took any available spot. First time experience was a 7.5/10.
Hence, i went again today on a Sunday night along with my family. I thought it was nice to bring my family for a meal cuz first experience was quite great. But this time It was a total trash, completely ridiculous & terrible. I have noticed the girl waitress always giving side eyes to the customers and impolite tone in my both visits.
We were about 5 pax, waited outside the door, sweating for 25mins. Finally when we were able to get the seats, we noticed it was only 4 seats, we know its a small cafe, but we requested one extra chair cuz we lack of one chair. First the unexperience girl waitress kinda panic dont know what to do & denied our request, asked us to wait. Then came the guy with tattoo, we asked politely can we have a extra chair. His reply was out of my mind, he said it is inconvenient I’m afraid, you guys should sit tightly together, its a little packed but this is what it is. He kept repeating that, kinda panic with awkward face. Then we said its okay, then can we ask the other table ourselves? We also kept repeating to ask for permission for a chair from another table ( provided there are so many extra chairs in the cafe !! We only needed one, not like we are blocking the whole pathway, we were seating nearly at the back lol ) This tattoo guy objected us to even ask, cut us off saying it is not inconvenient for other customers. We were frustrated, there’s a lot of anger in us as customer, wanted to complain and make a fuss about it, instead we said we gonna leave, not gonna eat here. The guy said “ oh ok ( like meh ), my apologies “ all the way we just walked out without any hesitation.
Its absolutely absurd, we are the customers, we are not having enough seats, we are here to have a meal, shouldn’t you be flexible ? Shouldn’t you think of serving your customer nicely ? Shouldn’t you find a solution for us ? No, you guys are so stubborn and your stupidity has bring your cafe shame and disappointment and embarrassment. I made reservations for iftar and pre order the menu one day before so we thought when we arrive the foods were served as we came almost iftar time but it turns out the food were not ready, not even the drinks. So we went for prayer first, then we came back from the prayer but still the foods weren’t served yet. We need to wait almost 45 minutes. We ordered 2 mala chicken breast don, 1 carbonara, 1 salmon mentai, 1 fries and 1 truffle pizza and 1 cake. During the mala chicken was served, the waitress only served 1 mala chicken and we thought she will send another one later but then it tooks so long until we call her back and she said this is all what i order and she show the receipt. Then i told her, i oder 2 mala and showed the pre oder menu on the whatsapp, then only she believed me. For the truffle pizza, we wait for a long time and it turns out the pizza was unavailable. Like seriously???? The waitress didnt tell us until we the one who asked her because our main dishes were finished. This is my first time trying this cafe and i turns out worst experience and disappointments

Read moreThe food was above average and the environment was decent. However, the service level and the management were very poor (and you can call them stupid in arrangement). We tried to book a table for 16 in advance, but they wanted to charge us a minimum of RM35 per person, which was unacceptable. We ended up canceling the reservation because of the unreasonable charges.
When we arrived at the restaurant at 11 am, they informed us that if we wanted to sit together, we would have to wait for 1 hour as all the large tables were full. We had no choice but to split into 3 groups. One group sat upstairs, while the other two were separated into two different areas on the first floor. Surprisingly, the second floor was not full at all, and they claimed that all the tables were reserved. We ended up dining for 2 hours, and no one else turned up until we left.
This kind of service is not acceptable at all. Regardless of how good the food is, the overall dining experience was extremely disappointing. Moreover, they charged us a fortune. We won't be coming back to this place again. There are many other options with better food quality and services.
