First time hearing about Kantin Gombak was after the recent drama involving that one reviewer. Went to try it out just to see what the hype or fuss was about. Tried the Pisang Goreng + Keropok set, it was just decent, nothing to shout about. The keropok sauce tasted like the usual Pantai Timur style, nothing fancy. The keropok lekor was the crispy outside, quite hollow inside which I liked. It was not the full, fishy kind that’s darker in colour. Also had the Tauhu Bergedil from the same kiosk. Same sambal kicap they gave with the Pisang Goreng, honestly, I’ve had better sambal kicap elsewhere. Ordered iced matcha and iced Nescafe, both were just okay. The matcha tasted more like Thai green tea than actual matcha powder. But it was cheap enough. Tried the laksa and gearbox soup too at a different kiosk. The soup set came with rice, sambal belacan, cucumber slices, and sambal kicap. The gearbox wasn’t that tender, needed a bit of work to get the meat off the bone. Soup was mild, not heavy on rempah. At least the sambal kicap here tasted better than the earlier one. As for the laksa, it wasn’t served hot and didn’t really have a strong laksa flavour. Just average. Overall, it’s not bad, but it’s not something I would purposely come back for either. If you’re nearby, maybe worth a try, but manage your expectations.

In the midst of busy road of Gombak, lies this big open air food court with so many interesting eye catching stalls to visit. You will have quite a hard time to choose the menu for your late tea time or dinner as you can shop variety of food from heavy dish like rice and traditional food like satay to western food, beverages and desserts. The parking place is a bit ample on the backside of the storage or godown area as much as people also park at the sharing parking place with Panggung Asia. They provide enough important amenities like toilets and surau. The nature of the place is lively with busking playing band to entertain the guests to this place.

Just ate dinner here. For me the food not so much choices. Really Love the Arab Pizza. 😍😍 Just soft and yummy, we order 2 times. Must try if go there.I ate the aglio olio pasta, i donno why they put i think romance lettuce, taste bitter. The atmosphere quit nice. I suggest eat at the outside area But the parking is so difficult, packed. Had to park the other side of the road. If eat dinner here come before 9pm as the place is packed, luckily we came at 8.15 they were still lots of empty seat at the end. Hope that they will install some kitchen ventilation in the future as there were so much smoke in inside.

It was okay. Nothing so bad. Variety of shops. I have tried:

  1. 3 budak gemok - 0.5⭐ Such a let down. Not the same quality as when they first started, too muak for me, maybe because they use the same oil multiple times and use the oil to cook the masak kicap (my assumption)
  2. Mmbaek (?) - 1⭐ tried their lamb-a-ghini subs - dry and lack of spice & flavour, was just ok, won't repeat.
  3. Satay (from the stall that sells korean or japanese-cant remember) - 2.5⭐ tried their satay and lokching, it was good but too pricey for me. The satay is RM 1.40 per stick. Lokching ok
  4. Mihun sup - 2.5⭐ It was okay.
  5. Tried few other shops as well but nothing really stand out or great. Quesadillas ⭐⭐from second last shop, pizza ⭐⭐from the...

Some of the food is ok some are so-so. U gonna have to try it yourself! Been here now and then for dinner and shisha nite...But my latest favorite here is the Nasi Daging Kedah Kahaq, the aroma of the rice and the tender beef slices combine with the awesone air asam truly SATISFYING!!!!
