This newly opened bak kut teh stall along Old Klang Road (likely since mid March 2025) carries a lot of heritage behind it.
If you're from Cheras, you might be familiar with the well known bak kut teh spot at Taman Pertama, which has been around since the early 1990s (the Pertama bkt has been retired for more than 7 years if I'm not mistaken). That stall comes from the Tou Tou Gui TTK BKT family, the pioneers of bak kut teh in Kuala Lumpur who originally started in Pudu back in the 1960s. They are also uniquely known for their yam rice. Yes, bak kut teh that goes with yam rice, it's definitely one of a kind.
The friendly young owner here is a descendant of the Pertama BKT family. I was told his grandfather still drops by twice a week to do QC. Their family recipe leans heavily on dong guai and yuk juk, very unique and definitely one of my childhood favourites. I also remember they were known for their tau fu pok, which I was excited to try again.
The soup and tau fu pok didn’t disappoint, flavourful and nostalgic. The meat could be slightly more tender, but overall still enjoyable.
They haven’t fixed their off day yet, but it's likely to be Thursdays. For now, they’re operating from a hawker stall at Tai Choong Kopitiam. It can get a little warm due to limited ventilation, but they’re considering moving to a bigger shop soon.
All in all, it's a hearty bowl of bak kut teh that really brings back memories of Pertama BKT. I’ll definitely...
Read moreThis is my first time giving a review. The shop is newly opened. After trying this Bak Kut Teh, I can confidently say that it is one of the best I’ve ever had.
Food: Their yam rice is very fragrant, with distinct and well-cooked grains. The soup Bak Kut Teh has a rich herbal taste, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. The dry Bak Kut Teh is stir-fried with chili and okra, but it’s not spicy at all—instead, it pairs perfectly with rice. The tofu puffs absorb the herbal soup well, making them juicy and flavorful.
Service: The owner is very friendly and provides excellent service. If you have any questions, you can always talk to them.
Environment: Although it’s a coffee shop, they keep the place very clean.
Price: Reasonable, considering it’s located in the Old Klang Road area.
Overall: I’ll bring my friends here to try...
Read moreThe taste of this shop is really good. The bak kut teh soup stewed with pure medicinal herbs, the meat is very tender and smooth, the dried bak kut teh is very fragrant and delicious, and the soup is also impressive. The rice and taro rice are distinct and fragrant. Their juice is also 100% pure natural, without adding sugar or water, and is freshly squeezed. The crispy and sweet fried dough sticks are also fried on the spot, which reminds me of my grandfather's unique flavour and I miss it very much. The attitude of the boss and employees is very good, especially Howard. He will communicate with customers and seek advice. (Very handsome also 😉) I appreciate his student-seeking and friendly attitude. I will visit...
