First time trying this famous curry noodle. The ambience is green to block the direct sun. But can still feel the heat from outside. Table seating is spacious between tables. Other than that it's just a normal kopitiam and it's not crowded during lunch time surprisingly.
The menu shocked me at first. The pricing set for curry noodle is on the high side. Normal is RM11.90 and special is RM19.90. the jumbo can even go up to RM69.90 😲 it's shocking for my first glance of the menu.
Tried cheapest curry mee RM11.90, homemade yu fu RM10.90 and kopi o RM2.60. The curry is really good, good curry aroma, not too thick, and sour note at the end is making the curry to be appetizing. The ingredient is generous and that is probably the answer to the RM11.90 pricing. But the siew yuk given is over night and reheated. You can tell by its color and texture. Other than that it's indeed a very enjoyable curry noodle. The yu fu is fantastic and the highlight of this visit. A little crunch on the outside and super soft with egg and fish taste inside. A fantastic snack bite that you won't have enough. The kopi o is nicely done as well. It's the nanyang version that I enjoy.
Overall, it's a good meal for a weekday lunch. But it's not cheap also for a weekday lunch. The bill came close to RM25. Will definitely return but not so frequent. Could this be the reason for not being full house during...
Read moreAvoid the yong Tau foo at all cost. Ordering it could be the worst decision u ever made.
Price: Ordered 2 fuchuk-like items, 1 okra, 1 eggplant, 1 fish cake, 1 fried fish fillet, and 1 curry cheongfun cost Rm19.5 + 3.5. Some more the cheongfun is small pax price.
Food: The cheongfun taste okay, but the curry sauce given is too little. Eventually when the cheongfun absorbed all the curry, you have to dry eat all the fried items. Seller assume the curry is just for the cheongfun and provide the sambal-like sauce for the fried items, but it just not to my liking. I guess not everyone can accept also :) As for the fried items, the taste is same like any roadside stall only.
Service: Let's talk about the seller's pattern. When replying ur question, she never have any eye contact with u and her eyes always looking around other place. Then when u still deciding and let her wait, u can see her face become impatient. Although she wearing mask but u still can feel the bad attitude strongly. If can't treat customer with basic respect and manners, please don't open stall.
Cleanliness: All the fried items never have any cover, and u can see 2 fan keep blowing towards the stall. Imagine the amount of dust.
Conclusion for yong tau foo: Not within cafe but charge even pricier than cafe. Rm23 for a meal that u can't feel full. Seller treat u like u owe her hundred...
Read moreWould I come back? Mixed feeling. I felt short changed of my order that came. Ordered curry sotong (RM17.90) and Chee cheong fun (RM8.90). Look at the size in the photo, I placed a soup spoon for comparison. What do you think?
Not value for money with that at all.
How does the food taste? The curry mee broth is good. That’s the main draw, it’s just the right thickness and taste, the ingredients compliments it, the see ham could be bigger though.
Chee Cheong Fun is ok ok, but the portion is just too small. Sorry still cudn get out of that. The curry sotong? Same curry broth as curry mee, just add the tasteless sotong in it but like I said, it’s too not value for money.
How’s the service? Ok mou? Well, enough people at hand to take care of things at peak hours la. Fast.
The atmosphere dim? Typical Chinese restaurant, was seated near the outside so humid for me but the fan did enough la. A bit cramp but liveable.
PS: They have lots of food choices geh, can go and try but their main draw is the volcano curry mee. I rank them no.2 behind the 9Hao Restaurant in Kota Damansara as no.1 curry mee.
Perhaps you can go there, try & tell us more and be fair & objective in what...
