If you are craving for a truly authentic Yemeni cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, look no further. A visit to Orient House in Wangsa Maju will not disappoint. In fact, the authenticity and taste here rival those of Yahala Restaurant in Ampang, a place we frequent whenever we host overseas guests. The best part? Orient House delivers the same quality at nearly half the price.
My two boys are huge fans of doner kebab, whether they are served in pita, tortilla, or saj bread. They have sampled shawarma from various restaurants and even from their school canteen but according to them, the one served at Orient House tops them all. It is damn good.
We also had the Chicken Mandi rice, and to our surprise, it wasn’t oily at all, instead, it was beautifully steamed. Perfect for those watching their oil intake. In fact, my wife has always avoided Middle Eastern rice dishes, believing them to be oily, just like our own local nasi beriani or beriani gam. But the Mandi rice at Orient House completely changed her mind. The dish was served in a beautiful copper brass food warmer, which added a lovely traditional touch.
Another highlight was the Yemeni tea we had after our meal. The aroma and flavour were simply out of this world. It is far more memorable than any English Breakfast tea I had in UK. This place is a must-visit if you are after authentic Middle Eastern food, especially Yemeni cuisine without burning a hole in your pocket.
Overall, we give Orient House a solid 5 out of 5 for its authenticity, food quality, warm service, and affordability.

Read moreHonestly, this place is such a gem! It's my 2nd time went here with families. The chicken was super juicy and flavorful, every bite felt like comfort food done right. The rice was fragrant and well-seasoned, perfectly complementing the meat. Falafel is crispy on the outside, soft and tasty inside and the drinks? Refreshing without being overly sweet, nicely balanced so you don’t feel weighed down.
Portions are generous, staff were genuinely friendly, service smooth, and overall it feels worth every cent. A spot I’d happily come back to whenever the Arab food craving kicks in. ✨
That said, there’s a bit of room for improvement. The place could be kept a little less dusty, and at times there’s an unpleasant smell that takes away from the otherwise great dining experience. Fixing that would really take this place from “great” to...
Read morei should have known this place sooner. we had meat Mandy, mix plate and shawarma meal. we also had kunafa though it wasn't in the menu. everything was delicious! (chef kiss) the price is affordable, i would say cheaper than most other middle eastern restaurant in the area. i like that not many people know about this place, but i feel bad keeping this hidden gem all to myself because it's not good for their business survival. we will definitely come back and spread the...
