Strolled in off the street with no preconceptions.
Ordered a small “Char Siew Kon Lou Wan Tan Mee” with some Kopi O.
My thoughts.
Service was quick and efficient. It was around 11am so there was no crowd then. The banter lacked warmth though.
Wantan noodle was surprising… it’s very thin and closer to thick vermicelli rather than a traditional wantan noodle. Tasted OK, but I still like the fine Hong Kong styled wantan noodle better.
Sauce was good if not spectacular.
The char siew was dry and lean. Minimal taste.
Another unusual addition was some minced pork topping. Quite tasty actually. Happy with this.
Wantans - the wrapper’s texture was good. The filling was just minced pork without any bits of prawns that would have made them tastier. Still, an OK wantan.
The pickled chilli was tasty. Had been well pickled. The chili did not taste “raw”. I liked this b
Black coffee was just OK. Not much fragrance from the bean but by no means...
Spacious and air-conditioned. Accept card or e-wallet. Went on a Friday in a group of 5 and managed to find a table at 1230pm. Packed with people at around 1pm. Finally managed to try their famous wantan mee after having ordering it in Grab for almost a year🥹. It taste delicious, in generous portion, wanton is huge and with lots of meat fillings inside. Strongly recommend u guys to try its wantan mee. The roasted pork belly tasted great too with the crispy skin. However the roasted chicken doesn’t taste good and the chicken is tiny. Will definitely come back again for its wantan mee😍
Note: their roasted chicken is ok only🥲. Meat isn’t tender at all, in fact it is smaller in portion (not that kind of juicy rich texture), it is more of a dry, hard to chew kind. So best...
Read moreI used to dine in this restaurant before MCO. Always love their chicken rice. However, I ordered online today one pack chicken char siew rice and my all time favourite salty vege soup. It came to my disappointment that none if the food has the original colour taste anymore.
The soup is extremely oily, like drinking oil soup. No ingredients in the soup like how it used go have some meat, chicken bones, etc. The soup is only 3/4 volume with oil constituted most of it.
The chicken rice too, thd rice taste like plain white rice and the chilli portion isn't generous.
Hope the owner can consider bring back the authenticity of the food like how...
