Firstly, dont be bothered by those so called elite members of Marriott reviewing the hotel. Or those who chose to nip pick problems regarding the hotel or its staff. In my life working in customer service industry, sometimes the noisiest of reviewers are customers who wants to be treated like a royalty. And when they never get their standard of expectations, they starts to pick the smallest of issues to justify their stand. Petty!
This is my first time staying in this hotel. And my stay is from 2nd to 6th June 2023. I have nothing less than great reviews. The people are superb from security, to front desks, to housekeeping to restaurant. They are just great groups of decent people working with smiles.
Check in was smooth, staff greeted us with a smile. We do received daily greetings whenever we depart or arrive at the hotel by whichever staff on duty.
It doesnt matter if the staff can speak English or local. Even if you go to other countries like China or Japan, the likelihood of the staff there speaking in English is also not there, so i dont see any reason why some people need to demand Malaysian to speak English when their National Language is Malay. Until you can ensure that China and Japan uses English to communicate to the world, then we can touch on the need to use English as a lingua franca for this region.
Given room on level 9. The room is nicely decorated. Aircon is powerful. We got 2 keycards. The only thing i dislike about the room is the sliding toilet doors(3panels) which is a bit inconvenient to use.
Water pressure is good. Toilet nice to sit on. There is a bidet. Mirror in the toilet has 2 sides (rotatable), with one side that has light.
Basic toiletries given such as comb, toothbrush. A box of tissue. Shampoo and bodysoap in dispensers. Shower room has a seating area. Got shower head and rain shower. Shower room a bit tight. There is a shower bench in the shower room.
The room comes with iron and iron board, kettle, tea coffee sugar creamer, 2 big bottles of water, refrigerator. 8 hangers. A giant sliding mirror panel. 42 inch tv. A long seating area, a round work/dining table. Plenty of power points.and USB ports.
They gave a pair of 3M ear plugs. Due to the echo sound coming from the corridor from people talking or closing doors. The sound can be quite loud. For a room sleeping 2 pax, one pair of ear buds seems not appropriate. They should just put 2 pairs in each room instead.
Queen sized bed, quite comfy. 4 plush large pillow, ensure u a super nice sleep.
Room is super clean. The housekeeping team did a good work in maintaining the rooms. I personally observe them keeping track of the rooms to clean, saw from afar them cleaning the rooms, pretended to walk to and fro to observe the housekeeping tasks being done.
Being a former housekeeping supervisor in a 5-star hotel in Singapore, i can truly see that these housekeeping staff are trained well. Lobby, lifts and public areas too are maintained promptly.
The other amenities such as gym, laundry room are in good conditions.
The hotel is a short walk to Chow Kit Monorail, which is approx 30mins ride to KL Sentral station. And about 15mins ride to Bukit Bintang or Imbi station.
KL is now super well connected with MRTs, LRTs, monorail and Komuter trains network that you can travel to the city outskirts with ease without having to spend on taking E-Hailing rides, which price can absurdly fluctuates.
There are a few 7eleven and kkMarts which are 24hours nearby the hotel (when you exit the hotel turn right towards an area of shop houses). However, please walk in groups if you are accessing that area at night due to the notorious safety history of this part of KL.
There are plenty of food eateries around Chow Kit area. In fact many of them are...
Read moreMy Experience at Fairfield Chow Kit. I’d like to share my experience from my two-week stay at Fairfield Chow Kit as a Titanium Elite member.||||1)Check-In Experience||Upon arrival, I was checked in by Mr kim, who handled the process with professionalism. The check-in was smooth and efficient. kim provided a clear and detailed explanation of the hotel's facilities and policies, accommodated my requests professionally, and followed up on my room’s condition to ensure a comfortable stay. Well Done! 5 Stars||||2)Elite Member Recognition||Regarding the Elite Member welcome gift, Fairfield Chow Kit offers a choice between 500 points or one complimentary breakfast. As an experienced Elite member, I’m aware that Fairfield Chow Kit (under the "Select" category) and Element KL are not usually required to provide complimentary breakfast under Marriott’s policy. ||||However, I appreciate that Fairfield Chow Kit was kind enough to offer one complimentary breakfast as a welcome gift — a thoughtful gesture.||||3)Room Upgrade: Fairfield Chow Kit does participate in room upgrades for Elite members, but it's subject to availability. The hotel has a limited number of Premier and Suite rooms, and with high occupancy rates, upgrades are not guaranteed — even for Ambassador, Titanium, or Platinum members. I didn’t receive an upgrade during my stay due to high occupancy, which is understandable.||A suggestion to demanding Elite members: If a Suite, Premier or specific room type is important to you, It’s better to book it directly rather than expecting an upgrade and causing DRAMA or screaming in the lobby like someone having a MENTAL PROBLEM.. It's a SHAME and unreasonable to expect guaranteed upgrades when the hotel is running at high occupancy.** (💡 You paid for what you booked )||||4)Car Park||-No complimentary parking is provided.||-Basement parking at Fairfield costs around RM10+.||-A third-party open-air car park is available nearby at RM6 per entry.||-Special thanks to Chandie and Kagenda for their kind assistance with parking.||||5)Breakfast at Lesung||The breakfast selection at Lesung is decent, but there is room for improvement:||-The air conditioning at Lesung needs to be improved as it feels too warm.||-The quality of the bananas and fish balls could be better, as they didn’t seem very fresh.||-Special thanks to Paul for his hard work and professionalism, Shakira for her excellent service, and Wong for the kind assistance. Well done, Lesung team!||||6)The Market Café||Thank you to Chun for the great service and excellent drinks.||||7)Room Condition||Thanks to Ikhsan and Fadzil for maintaining a clean and comfortable room.||However, the new housekeeping staff need better training, especially regarding trash removal during room service.||The soundproofing on the door and window sides could be improved to reduce noise.||||8)Lobby||The air conditioning in the lobby needs improvement, as it feels warm.||||9)Gym||The gym is open 24 hours.||No swimming pool is available, as clearly stated on the website.||||10)Location||Good - Few minutes walk to the Monorail station. Can get foods easily.||||Final Thoughts||Thank you to the entire Fairfield Chow Kit team for making me feel at home. Special thanks to Kim , Atika, Aidil, Faye, Izzah, and Puteri for their professional assistance throughout my stay. Well done, Fairfield Chow Kit — looking forward to...
