Good food in good atmosphere.
Edited and revised to all 1-stars based on experience on 20 Sep: Brought my mum and my sister over around 1.15-1.45pm. Both my mum and my sister are there for the first time and wanted them to enjoy your good food. We sat at one of the table which is underneath the aircon directly and requested to change since my mum cannot withstand direct aircond winds. We looked around and saw an empty table just nearby. However, your staff refused to let us to move over to the table, stating that the "emtpy" table was being reserved for 2 customers. And we saw the 2 customers at that very moment were using the big table just nearest to the table. I asked 2 different staffs and they refused to let us move to the empty table. I would like to ask the manager or the waiter in-charge at that time: How can 2 people use 2 different table at the same time? Is it physically at one table and spiritually at the other table? Tables as I understood are very precious to restaurants and cannot be left empty especially during peak hours, which I believe is the case at the time, therefore how can you let 2 customers (you can check your own CCTV for proof), to use 2 tables at the same time? The explanation given by your staff is that the 2 customers are content creators, which makes me really pissed off. Are you in fact telling me, content creators are treated better and can be given all the license to use as many tables as they saw fit? As a matter of fact, I myself dabble in photography as well, and I know that the lighting for the huge table nearest to your door is in fact the best for food lighting and if you want to record videos for contents, that area has the least voice interferences as other customers are much further away.
For your info, our party of 3 left the restaurant without dining in your restaurant and I wanted to record my dissatisfaction here. I would also be tagging you in my facebook post so that your management can take a look at today's incident as a lesson learnt and it will be good that your online team can give me a good explanation on the incident. Else, I think it will be likely that my visit today (20 Sep) will be my last ever and I will no longer recommend your restaurant to anyone in my circle. Again, I never recorded any video or picture of your staff as I only reprimanded them with a piece of my mind as I left the restaurant around 1.30-1.45 pm onwards (you can check your own CCTV video, if...
Read moreRoots isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a flavor-packed haven for fusion foodies & plant-based pals! Whether you’re a herbivore, omnivore, or “just here for the laksa,” you’ll leave truly full.
With a warm ambiance, this is where the worlds of East and West collide on a plate—and the results are deliciously dramatic. From the stylish black-and-gold facade to the queue out front (yes, rubbing shoulders is a common sight esp if the reservations are filled), this place pulls you in with promises of fusion magic.
The menu is a playground of flavors, seemingly crafted with vegetarians, vegans, and flexitarians in mind. Whether you’re in the mood for Malaysian spice, Italian comfort, or street food flair, there’s something for everyone—and yes, you’ll want everything.
Our palate journey run: • Complimentary focaccia basket with balsamic & oil (a classy lil’ touch) • Fresh pumpkin salad—light yet packed with flavor •Oh Jian (vegan oyster omelette!) & radish cake for that street food soul • Creamy green curry with naan (Asia meets flatbread heaven), unfortunately missed the Thai spice expectation • Signature Laksa Angel Hair—a slurp-worthy twist with wild mushrooms, would’ve loved it with a richer flavour •Aglio Olio—classic, with a kick of butter and sundried tomatoes •BBQ Mushroom & Jalapeño Pizza—smoky, spicy, and addictive •BBQ Pulled Mushroom Burger—the kind that makes meat-lovers pause
They also serve fizzy fun in a glass - kombucha mocktails. Service was a breeze despite the high turn of customers and never ending queues.
Notes: • Come hungry (esp with a pack 😉), you’ll be filled to the brim • Expect a queue—but it moves fast and is worth it, call or book for reservations to skip the wait! • Perfect for plant-based eaters and curious foodies alike. • Great for group dining—so you can share...
Read moreI specifically went to check out this restaurant, and as soon as I walked in, the server decided to seat me in the hallway. I looked around and saw other small tables available, but she insisted on taking me to a crowded spot, probably to fill up the empty space 😂. But it was way too close to the table next door...
When I was ordering, a female server came over to help, but she stood really far away, making me feel kind of disrespected. She leaned against the bar, talking to me from across the hallway instead of standing by my table, acting like I owed her money or something.
I ordered coconut coffee, and when she brought it to my table, I didn't catch what she said, so I decided to take a video of her pouring the coffee into the coconut for my Google review. Out of nowhere, she snapped and said: "You have to drink some first, or I can't pour it in!" (with a pretty sour face)...
Then I noticed she was super friendly with the American customers at the next table, all smiles: "Hey ladies! This is for you! :)” Wow, her attitude towards me was so different…
Later, when I asked for plain water, she brought me a bottle that was only 30% full… When it came time to pay, I realized there was a charge of 1 ringgit for it, but she just gave me that partially filled bottle. If I had known I had to pay for it, I would have asked her for a full one. She didn’t even mention it would cost anything…
And seriously, the different treatment towards customers—I'm really hoping she's not racist... It wasn't a great experience; I really felt unwelcome. I ordered food for two, and I can’t believe I was treated like that. I won’t be...
