Went there for lunch on a weekday. Paid RM40.50/adult.
First of all, their service deserves a 10/10.
Moving on to the foods selection, their frozen instant foods are not as variety and as interesting as their competitors, sukiya/ bbq town/ shabuyaki. They don't have my favorite, the cheese tofu. However, they provide fresh prawns, ring squids, mussels and dorry fillet (good for seafood lovers, but im more a meat lover huhu). They also serve black fungus, which I've never seen at shabu shabu before this (we liked it). Today, i tried their watermelon, and it tasted a bit weird (not freshly cut, we thought) to me and my friends, not sure why. Their honeydew tasted fine. Then, their soup selection... we tried miso and sukiyaki. Miso was great, however their sukiyaki still cannot defeat sukiyaki from other restaurants, still can improve more. We add some soy sauce & spring onions from the sauce bar to our sukiyaki soup, and then it's better. Their sauce bar are quite interesting although the goma dare sauce was a lil bit weird to my tastebuds. Please try their senya signature and abc sauce. Their sweet thai sauce tasted exactly like maepranom thai sauce (can be found at supermarkets, tasted good too). Then, i noticed that their beef and lamb slices are thicker than other shabu2 restaurants, hence it can be harder to chew. I prefer thinner slices so i can just chew effortlessly 😋. Their RTE mains were okay. Please avoid their sushi 🫨. They did not use japanese rice i think, and the rice in my sushi was hard (as if it's undercooked). Cannot even finish 1 sushi huhu 🤢
To me, the biggest downside here is their AC. we were sweating so bad while eating. We never had this experience before when eating shabu2/steamboat in an AC restaurant. Asked the waitress for help, she helped us, but we didn't really feel anything though. Really hope they can improve on this.
As a sukiya lover, senya shabu2 still cannot beat sukiya, but it's the best choice for those looking for substitution because this restaurant is halal certified & you don't need to queue too! They also accept booking, can contact them...
Read moreVisited on a weekend for lunch and thankfully it was not full, so we got a seat without reservation.
Summary: park at E02 at Basement for easy access. There is probably another parking area at LG which I dont know the BBQ grill is not worth it
Starting out with the great points: Delicious side dishes such as sushi, nasi goreng, mee goreng, finger foods. Usually buffet hotpots that have these don’t put any effort on these side dishes Oden was also pretty good Wide selection of shabu2 add ons such as processed balls and seafood Tried miso + sukiyaki, both were tasty Beef and lamb slices were thin enough so it wasn’t too chewy (we did not try chicken) Nice, cooling restaurant. They have fans and a/c which kept us cool had honeydew and watermelon. I thought honeydew was a unique choice
Now to not so great points We also took the BBQ grill. Not recommended. It came with marinated beef, chicken and squid but we did not enjoy them All the foods were salty (very common for buffet places) so we filled up quickly on water They have a lift right next to the restaurant but it was so far away from the place everyone chooses to park. Sushi was good but only when it was fresh (full tray). The rice gets hard and uncomfortable to eat. They didnt have the dim sum and something in a pot next to the oden. So 2 missing things from the buffet selection. We were not told why when we were paying Ice cream was not good
Overall, I will come back only for the shabu2 and meats....
Read moreBeen here on my birthday that is on 6july.. First of all, this place you need to booked earlier cause there is time it will be fully booked always.. So booked early. Walk in can but percentage to get seat is limited.. Okay from my experience.. This steamboat is affordable and location wise is great, parking is available always...just need to touch your touch n go.. Located at the first floor.. I think if used lift must take UG.. The steamboat is located above Polperro. Okay, i booked thru online and change my time, the person that attend me was great and helpful. When i reach to the senya shabu2, the front person was explaining to the guest infront of me.. What to do.. And what is their menu but when come to our turn.. He turn sour and just ask how many people or what filling for the steamboat.. Staff is limited, on that day 1 staff on floor, 1 staff at front and 2 staff at kitchen. Many the food is empty when we come, but they do nothing to refill it.. Until i told them, then only the refil. Should't you guys always check.. The video and promo and reality is diff... When there is like people come said one to promote suddenly become friendly.. So what i can say is.. The price is okay, variety is okay.. Location is okay, staff need to improvise more. Will i come back again.....
