The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

This became my regular since my kids like the double chocolate drink and the Hawaiian pizza. The place is cozy with good views during the mornings if you sit near the glass walls, however the AC is turned to full freeze mode, so we feel the need for a jacket most of the time.

All was well until today, when I decided to take my wife on a coffee and breakfast date in the morning. My wife ordered an egg drop sandwich meal set with coffee. I ordered a teriyaki chicken sandwich, which was a total disaster. I left this after just one bite, since I could tell this was not fresh at all. I have pics for you to see. I don’t know how old this chicken was, and how many times was it was re-heated. The pineapple on top looked like it was harvested last year and frozen. The chicken was tough to bite, I spat it out and left the sandwich to its fate, couldn’t bother to take another bite.

I tried the egg drop sandwich, was fresh and nice. I was shocked that they would serve some old stuff with such bravado, thinking it will go unreported.

Also, we didn’t get our Wi-Fi passwords with the order, we had to go ask for it and got one that didn’t work. Somehow this trip wasn’t going well for us.

If the person taking the order was at least a little friendly, I might have asked for a change, but they seemed pretty much unapproachable. I don’t know what the staff are going through at this place, some seem agitated all the time, while some are ok.

I’ve always enjoyed visiting Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf outlets, as the staff are usually friendly and provide great service. The Link branch has been no exception in the past—staff members even took the time to introduce me to the mobile app and encourage me to sign up for a free drink.

However, my recent visit to this branch was extremely disappointing. After downloading the app and approaching the counter to redeem my first drink, I encountered the manager, Niza, who made the experience unpleasant. I greet her and told her that I wanted to redeem my first drink from app, she didn’t acknowledge me and instead just pointed at the scanning area without any explanation. It was my first time using the app, so I was confused by her gesture. Her response was dismissive, repeating the gesture in an unfriendly manner.

Additionally, the barista, Rohaidah, seemed unhappy and gave off odd, unapproachable vibes, which made the overall atmosphere uncomfortable. On top of that, the latte I ordered tasted bland and lacked the quality I usually expect from CBTL.

As someone who works in the service industry, I understand how challenging the job can be, but hospitality, professionalism, and consistency in product quality are key. A Cozy Evening at CBTL The Link, Bukit Jalil

My husband and I visited The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at The Link, Bukit Jalil on 8th May 2025 around 5:30PM for a relaxing coffee date. The ambiance was calm and cozy perfect for winding down.

I ordered the Matcha Strawberry (less sweet) and honestly, it tasted so damn good, creamy, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweetness. My husband had the Iced Hazelnut Latte, which was smooth and full of flavor. We also shared a flaky croissant, which went perfectly with the drinks.

Special thanks to Izzati, the staff who took our order, she was warm and friendly. And honestly, all the CBTL staff on that day were so welcoming and nice, it really made the experience even better. Keep up the great work!
