Twelves Shokudo | 十二食堂 — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Best Japanese food I had around Kepong Segambut area. I believe the chef has been a master of the skill of cooking, let me tell you why.

I ordered a self mix & match set that comes with a mains, 2 side dish, pickle, rice / noodle, and miso soup.

Mains - Chicken Katsu. It is not oily, breadcrumb flour coat is absolutely crispy and thin, just like what I had in Japan. Meat is tender and enjoyable on its own.

Side dish - Salmon salad & Chawanmushi. Salmon salad has its portion satisfying. Chawanmushi is a highlight, I recommends everyone to order one if you are here. It was the best Chawanmushi I had in Malaysia. It is so soft and smooth, literally I am drinking water of eggs and don't even feeling that I am drinking it. Taste was seasoned to perfection. This is the best thing in my meal. Must try!

Staples - Rice. Even rice I need to talk about it. There are some kind of seasoned seaweed on top which I seldom see served in restaurant. It's salty wet yet crispy. The taste is really addictive, it goes so well with rice. Just amazing.

Really love the quality of food in this restaurant. Super recommended.

A Malaysian localize Japanese Restaurant in Bandar Menjalara, Kepong. Therefore I would not say it’s an authentic Japanese restaurant.

The restaurant look clean, spacious & Japanese feel. Only a few table occupy during my visit in Sunday 1pm.

The price for the 2 sets I order were RM38 per set. The price tag vs the taste or the portion doesn’t really tally. However they allow to refill rice & miso soup, which is good for someone who love to eat more rice but the dishes doesn’t trigger me to refill the rice.

Overall the dishes taste ok, but nothing impressive. I see the restaurant trying very hard on the name of each menu. The concept of 一汁三菜which is a common Japanese Family daily meal is very similar to another restaurant called Rinjin Shokudo in Bukit Jalil, however there is a huge gap in the taste.

They accept reservation via WhatsApp & also provide quality cutlery set for baby.

They accept DuitNow QR payment or credit card. They also 5% cash back in Beepit, remember to scan from the receipt within 12 hours.

Would I come back again? No, unless there is an improvement...

Dinner here was a pleasant experience because of the polite service and how clean the establishment was. Out of all the dishes ordered, the tamago trio and sushi pieces were the absolute best, with the omurice coming in a close second. The chawanmushi was somehow really bland, would not order that anymore. However, would return to try the other dishes on the menu.

The only complaint I have is that I tried to order my coffee in a takeaway cup, because I wouldn't be able to finish it at one go and wanted to bring it with me when I left. For some reason the waitstaff confused my order twice, once was that they didn't serve it at all then when they did, it came in a regular glass cup, so I had to finish it all on the spot anyway.
