Nestled along the picturesque seafront, 88 Seafront Restaurant promises an enticing culinary journey with its diverse menu and scenic views. However, my recent visit left me with mixed feelings and a varied palate of experiences.
Let's dive into the highlights and lowlights of my dining adventure:
The Highlights: Ambiance:The restaurant boasts a charming ambiance with its coastal-inspired decor and panoramic views of the sea. It's an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a leisurely lunch with friends and family.
Service: The staff at 88 Seafront Restaurant are attentive and courteous, providing prompt service throughout the meal. From seating arrangements to taking orders, they ensure a pleasant dining experience.
The Lowlights: Portuguese Baked Fish: Disappointingly, the Portuguese baked fish failed to impress. The dish lacked flavor and was surprisingly bland, failing to capture the essence of traditional Portuguese cuisine. This culinary letdown left a sour taste in my mouth, detracting from the overall dining experience.
Misleading Pricing:One of the most disappointing aspects of my visit was the misleading pricing of the chicken wings. The menu brochure advertised RM 4 for 6 pieces, only to be met with an exorbitant bill of RM 24 for the same quantity. This blatant misrepresentation of pricing left me feeling deceived and somewhat scammed, tarnishing the restaurant's reputation in my eyes.
Overall Verdict: While 88 Seafront Restaurant offers a scenic backdrop and satisfactory service, its culinary offerings fall short of expectations. Despite a few standout dishes and attentive staff, the lackluster Portuguese baked fish and misleading pricing of the chicken wings detract from the overall dining experience. With room for improvement in both food quality and transparency in pricing, I award 88 Seafront Restaurant a modest rating of 3...
Read moreAgain with the swarming of workers from multiple stalls at the carpark itself, we chose number 4 this time. It was the weekend and it was crowded. We had to sit inside. The ambiance was decent, but it was sweltering hot with the occasional breeze to cool us down. The staff are friendly, but you need to call out many times to get their attention. Wait time exceeded 40 minutes, it was the longest amongst the other stalls there. The jenahak fish tiga rasa was disappointing. The jenahak fish was small and it was fried until it was too dry and crispy. RM70 for such a small fish was not worth it. The tiga rasa gravy was too sour and spicy, it was bad indeed. Tasted like tomato sauce. The prawn butter garlic was okay but RM50 for a small plate, it is expensive as well. The prawn was fresh, the gravy a bit too buttery. The mixed veggie & aubergine (terung) pepper was tasty and the price was a bit more reasonable. Unfortunately, there are better stalls than no. 4. Do try out the other stalls first...

We ordered only 2 items from this restaurant, the baked fish and the crispy squid. Both were good. The baked fish was siakap and it was cooked to perfection. Despite the cut cucumber and the sliced onion was not a fantastic garnish or eye pleasing the taste was actually quite interesting. The lime gave it the tangy flavour and suites well with the spicy sauce. You can get the smoky flavour from being baked in the oven. The based of the foil was not burnt. The other dish was the crispy squid.. deep fried squid in batter. Nice touch of sweetness from the batter mix. You can see the color of the dish that it is not overly fried. Overall it was a good experience with the food and the view. As for pricing, it's...
