Very disappointed from the moment I step in into this hotel till I checked out n leave.
On 3Oct20 (Sat) – approx. 2pm reached hotel n tried to check in (I understood that official check in time is 3pm). I was told the adjoining (connected) rooms (I booked 2 rooms) are not ready n I can collect the cards at 3pm. Hence, I left my bags at concierge n left for shopping at Mahkota Parade. I came back at approx. 5pm and 2 cards were given – Room 1655 and RM1657 (I assumed that odd numbers are on 1 side hence would have been an adjoining rooms and left the lobby). Upon reaching the rooms, found that Room 1658 in between and our rooms were not an adjoining rooms. I went down to Lobby to seek clarification and the staff said no adjoining rooms available at that moment and upon checking told me that they can arrange Room 1259 n Room 1260 and will need at least another 2hrs (i.e. I can collect my cards by 7pm). I requested the staff to assist the bags transfer from Room 1655 to Room 1259 as I’ll be going out for sightseeing and dinner and to return approx. 9pm only. As my family wanted to freshen up before leaving the Room 1655, no towels found in both bathrooms n totally empty (I’m not sure what is so call time needed to prepare the rooms – when I was told at 2pm earlier???). Anyway, I left the room. As I came back approx. 11pm and collected the new room keys, finally got the adjoining rooms but to find that no towels in both the bathrooms. Called room service at 11pm for towels and was delivered approx. 1145pm, that also only the bath towels and no other smaller towels. At 12.30am, another 4 medium towels were delivered.
Room 1259, the light next to the bed was not functional as the wire to the switch was found broken (photo attached). The water flow in the basin was very bad and easily about to flow over (photo attached). The ceiling (reading) lights above the bed in room 1259 was very dim while in room 1260 was extremely bright – I can’t find any dimmer to control the lights (only turn on and off).
Now coming to the elevator issue, due to MCO SOP, it was recommended to have only like 4~5 people each time to enter the elevator (within a family, in some occasions to have more). There were 6 elevators and the switches were to control one at any one time. As 1 elevator being used, the buttons cannot be operated until it closes and leave the floor. Then to press the switch to trigger next available elevator. In this way of elevator function, there were like 20 people waiting over like 20mins to get their turn at lobby level and even worst at different level as the elevator coming always full and unable to get in. The elevator function mode needs to be changed to a condition like the one in the malls. It took me 35mins from my room to the carpark (2x use of elevator) and 25mins from lobby to my room (1x use of elevator).
At 12 midnight, as I need to go up to my level, none of the elevator would function and I had to get the staff from front desk to assist me to enable the elevator to work (not sure of the real issue of the malfunction).
I visited the pool (did not use it) and found the SOP limit was like 50 but I can say the crowd was like easily close to 100 people. I noticed many not wearing proper swimwear and many were on their casual wear and inside the pool.
The only area I can say outstanding and excellent service was the breakfast on 11th floor. The food spread was really good and tasty. The staffs service was fast in clearing the tables and refilling the food ensuring the guests don’t have to wait at any counters. Thumbs up to this group of staffs – Good Job. Scanning the guest for temperature and separating group of 5 and below to an area while group of 6 and above to another area was carried out very fast minimizing the waiting time to enter the buffet area.
In conclusion, I may consider coming just for buffet breakfast but will never consider coming in to stay in this Hotel. I’m not sure if this...
Read moreAll their staff are very pleasant and helpful, always greeting us with smiles. We stayed at 31th floor and the sea view is great. There is an infinity pool (with one stand alone hot water Jacuzzi pool) at 13th floor which was quite empty during our stay and awesome views. Our family had a great time playing at the pool.
All guest are entitled to visit their skydeck at another tower which give you the tallest panorama view over Melaka. The view at skydeck is awesome with pub, restaurant and coffee café available for people whom wish to enjoy the view at their own relax time. I noticed there is a Chinese restaurant under renovations which I foresee will be busy in future.
Though the shop tenant in the mall is not fully occupied, there are numerous shops that gives good discount and we actually took few hours shopping in the mall after we checked out. There are good eateries as well nearby the hotel.
There is a mega children playground, jumpers land in the mall at 3rd level. We missed that in our stay, only noticed this awesome playground on the last day after we checked out. Will be good if hotel can place a poster to notify guests with children of this awesome playground.
Of course, nothing is perfect, I noticed some defects in the room which I had already feedback to the hotel staff. Similar to other reviews, we also noticed there is a faint foul smell when we moved into the room and the smell goes away after the room is cool by the air-con.
Last but not least, I would like to thank all the staff for their pleasant and always ready to serve attitude. Unfortunately, I didn't took down their names but only managed to capture some names on my last day of stay, Azaun, Charlene, Dwayne as they took effort to attend customer / gather feedback. By the way, I wish to express my special thanks to the middle age Malay man (He wore white long sleeve with a tie daily) whom had helped me on the directions to the nearest Aeon Jusco on an evening as my GPS map was not updated.
Overall, great stay and we will...
Read moreEverything seems to be ok at the beginning for this newly build hotel. From room space, lobby staff.. all look good and friendly. Not until I found something need to be improve.
1st. Me and family was like a food traveller. In every hotel we stay, we would like to have their room service- to order something special to taste. We did order 2 things. Nasi goreng kampung- really great n recommended. But not the other fish n chip. The fish coating was so thick and the batter was not well cook. It should be crispy I think.
2nd. They got a superb gorgeous pool. But they only allowed swimming suit or else jersy type of clothes! Come on! We are in Malaysia. And most of us were muslims. We are prohibited from wearing those tshirt and must wear fitted type clothes. When I ask why, the person in charge said sorry sir cannot because your t shirt will discoloured and affect the pool water? What a nonsense. Believe me I have been to so many hotel... even some of them was higher class. Even they said its the common rules to use swimming suit, when they know and understood we are muslim plus we are in Malaysia, they just say its ok. Its really annoying. I just ask my wife and child get back to the room with my son keep crying and shouting. They also have security guard at the pools? For what? The safe guard or the pool guy wasnt enough? And I think this hotel have too many security guard. I wonder why.
3rd. The breakfast was totally under my expectation. Again.. they have too many staff in the cafe. All the menu was just ok. Nothing impressive.
Last but not least... at the price we pay, I rather search the other hotel. Not...
