Be wise if you are tourist and plan to visit this place. I’m not local but I visit melaka almost every week with my husband but he never take me here. I was here with few friends from outstation and they wana give it a try. BUT First arrival already make us had a bad impression. Once we got down from our car The restaurants’ staffs gather around us and kept saying “1,2,3,4,5,6”. Apparently it’s the number of their restaurants and kept forcing us to choose. Some play racial cards, some play local cards, Very stressful ambiance for us it’s like they gonna fight anytime. Speaking about food just so so. Not sure about those who gave high rating on food probably havent tried the real nice Portuguese food in melaka. Please don’t come here unless you know which restaurant you want to go. WILL NOT COME BACK AGAIN.

Amazing place to have a wide variety of seafood. We especially like stall number 7 (Pescados Fisherman). The bosses and staffs are approachable and will recommend dishes to fit your budget. Never used Hard Sell tactics here. Since We wanted to try lots of dishes and did not bring much cash either. There are almost no money changers in the shopping centres or hidden as we could not find any too. We are so used to paying by credit card and did not realises every stall there ONLY accepts cash payment or ewallet from TnG. Beware of aggressive touts forcing you to patronise their stalls. There are a total of 8 there. Just walk straight to stall 7 and take your time to go through the menu and enjoy the atmosphere and your seafood dinner.

Ate at Joan & El Chico's (No.2) as the meals are worth it, out of all the rest of the other restauratlnts. For the price, their seafood is much more worth it compared the some of the other stalls that charge just as much but without real seafood. Staffs are attentive and speaks their own Cristao language, yet converses very well in English. All store owners are competitive for customers and these peddling may scare away first timers. If only they'd all tone it down and not go full-on gangster at visitors, they might just not be too intimidated to try their food. Once that happens, I'd make it 5 stars.

Extremely stressful situation upon arrival. Different stalls’ staff would crowd around you telling you what they serve and their stall numbers, making it stressful. We ended up with stall number 2 as they claim they serve authentic Portuguese food. Portion was little and food were not nice at all. Not sure which part of the food was Portuguese, seems like normal Chinese zichar. The crabs were small and doesn’t taste fresh. Served us a plate of egg yolk chicken of pathetic portion for 8 adults and 3 kids, the chicken tasted so salty. Told the staff and they replace with another portion, and told us we would not be charged for the dish. Upon payment, we were informed that we were not charge for the new portion they cooked but still charged for the first plate. Seems like very bad customer service, luckily we don’t have to charged for the new plate because their original dish tasted horrible. The food taste very meh, not sure if the other stalls are nice, but avoid stall number 2. Price was much more expensive compared to other restaurants that we went to, this is only an open concept coffee shop and cost more than proper restaurants. Worse of all, you pay a premium food for less than basic food quality. Would not...

Horrible Horrible Horrible. Never going back there again. I hate the fact food stall owners/workers come up almost to your car and are literally harassing you to dine at their stall. Don't they understand English?? They just don't understand when I tell them that "I will decide on my own". The moment you decide on a particular stall, the other who were harassing you look at you like a criminal that owes them money. These are totally classless people who have no respect for people privacy even after telling them that I will decide what I want. This tactic used by them is getting old and overused. Many customers don't like it. U can see many people complaining about this in their reviews. So stop it! Now as for the food ... OVERRATED, OVERPRICED, DIRTY! I've eaten in most stalls there are I've definitely had way way better food elsewhere. Worse part of it all, my while family members had food poisoning, including me. You can get much better food practically anywhere else in Melaka. If you really need to visit the settlement, Christmas time would be good due to the lights and decorations. But honestly, the settlement offers practically nothing for tourists. Absolutely nothing. My advise to everyone, spend your...
