Fantastic experience at this home-run, unassuming and DELICIOUS eating house.
We were initially skeptical about the rating but wanna give it a try anyway. And we were very pleasantly surprised by all the dishes
I enjoyed the baked fish very much as it was very fresh with a good balance of spicy and sour from the ingredients.
Most surprised by the otah - because I’m not a fan of otah yet I found it so delicious. They must have handpicked the best ingredients to make it.
The egg plant is very well grilled too. While devil’s curry was packed with a punch. We also ordered chicken wings which was nicely spiced and very easy to take down several.
Hospitality was beyond expectation too, owner was sharing some history about the surrounding, and even offers us private transport arrangement while we were having hard time getting a cab home with our kids.
So glad we gave it a try! Great exceed...
Read moreWhenever we go to the Portuguese Village Square for food here in Malacca/Melaka, we will definitely go to Monterios Portuguese Seafood Restaurant.
The restaurant is tucked away from the stalls centre section, just behind Restoran De Lisbon, where you can have a quiet peaceful meal, "serenaded" by nice country music which they play there.
On this occasion, we ordered Baked Portuguese fish (Sea Bass or Siakap as it is locally called) and Kangkung vegetable as there are only two of us this time. In the past we ordered their Devil's Curry (Chicken) which was tasty...not overly spicy.
The Baked Fish was very fresh and ovely and just a tinge spicy, cook to perfection. It was pretty good 👍
Service rendered has always been warm and polite, and their food recommendations have been good in the past. Prices has always been reasonable, and portions are satisfactory.
We will be back...

We were glad that we went ahead to try this restaurant despite some negative reviews, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the value for money of what we ordered as well as the warm hospitality of the family who ran the restaurant.
The Devils’s Curry was spicy, punchy and yummy, and we loved the otak otak as well as the grilled brinjals which were fragrant and nicely toasted on the outside and soft on the inside!
The family running the restaurant shared interesting background information about the Portuguese settlement and the Portuguese community in Malacca, and were also super helpful in getting us transportation out of the area on a busy Saturday night.
