Second time here and still a fan of their cooking. This round we ordered kangkung, omelette, salted egg butter squid and Portuguese baked fish. The squid was easily the winner - rich, creamy, full of flavour. The rest were solid too, nothing mind-blowing but i genuinely enjoyed everything. Portion-wise, definitely more suited for three. We were just two and left feeling a bit terlebih (not that we’re complaining). The place itself is chill and if you come around dusk, you get a nice sunset sky peeking through, adds to the whole lepak vibe.

Decided to try San Juang after reading the reviews and I was impressed. Star of the show was the belacan ladyfingers that had a unique flavour. Fish was good. Butter squid was the super crispy, dry kind. Live crab that we could choose and had so much flesh. Friendly hostess recommended some items on the menu without being too pushy. Overall a great first experience! And everything was reasonably priced despite the place being frequented by tourists mostly.

Staff was very friendly with us and gave a lot of recommendations. Seafood is their speciality here which makes sense since their baked jenam and sotong assam was nice. If you haven't tried Portuguese food before, its ok to try a little bit of eveyrthing but if visiting again, I recommend to stick with the seafood options. Also, the staff might greet you as soon as you get out of your car but don't get too alarmed as they were quite polite with us.

This is stall No. 3 from the right. We were informed that stall 1,2,3,4 & 10 serves Portuguese seafood menu whilst the rest are Chinese seafood.

The food here is super nice, not too spicy and not too salty. Suits my family’s taste bud. We ordered butter salted egg crab (10/10 - fat, fresh and juicy crabs), Portuguese ikan bakar (7/10), butter prawns (8/10 - would be awesome if it’s crunchier), bendi belacan (7/10) and Portuguese eggplant (6/10). If you order crab and fish, please eat the fish first coz once the crabs menu overwhelms your taste bud, the fish will taste less.

Overall, it’s value for money.

P/S please don’t be alarmed when a group of people swarmed over your vehicle inviting you to their stalls. And I mean competitively inviting you to their stalls ( it was quite scary in the beginning), but times are bad. That’s the only way that they can capture your attention to get you to eat at...

San Juan is a rip off...no more dining there better dine at the end of the Chinese seafood....these guys..just get you and convince you saying food all are fresh seafood..udang frozen, friend calamari frozen...very fresh ...I ordered stingray where I wanted to be grill..they gave baked style, only that was fresh... order prawns they not giving us options to choose..keep on saying I reckon you dry curry style, then we said ok..small plate..lala soup..brinjal sambal.. which suck to the max..they charge me 200 bucks..with ice lemon tea.with 200 bucks better travel Kuala Selangor and eat seafood ....it's better you get mud crab.prawns..fish..squid..vege,with good Chinese quality tea..228..which is better....not worth it........
