Today I had the pleasure of dining at J & J Seafood in the Portuguese Settlement, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was vibrant yet cozy, providing the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable meal. We went for early dinner at 5pm. It was quiet and still early.
To start, we ordered the baked threadfin fish, which was cooked to perfection. The fish was tender and moist, with a delightful blend of herbs and spices that enhanced its natural flavors without overpowering them. It was a testament to the chef’s expertise and the quality of the ingredients.
Next, we tried the grilled brinjal, which was a revelation. The eggplant was charred just right, giving it a smoky depth that paired beautifully with the subtle seasoning. Each bite was a perfect balance of soft interior and crisp exterior, making it an absolute delight.
The highlight of the meal, however, was the garlic prawns. Succulent and juicy, the prawns were infused with a rich garlic flavor that was both aromatic and irresistible. The garlic butter sauce was so good that we couldn’t help but savor every last drop.
Overall, J & J Seafood exceeded all expectations. The service was attentive and friendly, ensuring that we felt welcome and well-cared for throughout our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in the Portuguese Settlement. We can’t wait to return and explore more of their...

True to that, situated at the very end of the rows of restaurants at the Portuguese Settlement, the team in green came greeting with all smiles, non pretentious~ All you need to do is just bash through the front load of menu pushers, lo and behold there you shall find, the J & J Corner.
Flavourful, adequately sumptuous and eager to serve, dinner is nothing short of a thumbs up and belly rubbing. So much so that we ordered extra rice to soak dry the gravy from the dishes!
The menu is not your usual stingray belacan, ikan masak lemak sorta dish, but mind you the butter milk gravy, sambal which technically goes with an array of meat and seafood alike is finger licking good. Even our greens with the lil spiced up belacan had our eyes closed as we chew to truly savour its taste.
Darn it, doing this review makes me hungry just thinking of dinner earlier. The lady who mans the front (Sorry Sister, I forgot to ask your name! 😔),is double up friendly and even gotten the todi stall owner to sell us a bottle even though they are open only on the weekends~ Thanks Sister! ☺️
There you go peeps, go and have a belly...

If you’re looking for the best seafood in town, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor, cooked to perfection, and left us wanting more.
We tried a variety of dishes—baked fish, sotong, brinjal, otak-otak , stingray and of course, the garlic crab—and every single one was so good, I just couldn’t stop eating. I’m usually not a big eater, but something about the flavors here unlocked a whole new appetite. If my stomach can fit more, I will order MOREEEEE food...
💥 The highlight? Definitely the crab and otak-otak Cracking open that shell and tasting that rich fresh meat.. The otak-otak is so meaty and value for money.. Taste so flavorful and generous! Their homemade sauce for their stingray and otak2 is incredibly TASTY and GOOD.
