This place has an unassuming facade and a nostalgic feel to it. Everything is old school. From the metal door grill, switches, tiles, down to the table and metal serving plates. Not surprising since it's been open since 1962.
Their menu is quite limited, but they cook them deliciously well. Of the dishes I ordered, I truly enjoyed the curry prawn. To me this a must try. The curry is thick, aromatic with perfectly balanced spice and taste. The prawn is big, fresh and succulent.
The fish in signature sauce, tofu and fuyong egg to me was above average and definitely delicious. But didn't have the extra kick that would make you travel for. Unfortunately I found the belacan fried chicken a bit dry.
The waiters however are very efficient and friendly. The price however is a bit premium. For this environment and location, I expected a lower price. It's not exorbitant though and like art, price is always subjective when it...
Read moreThis is an old eatery which serves good Chinese food. I was introduced to this place by a local friend. Limited menu, usually the first timers Re encouraged to order the black soy paste fried fish, curry prawn, and also one vegetables of your own liking. The fried fish is very crispy. Even some of the bones are edible. The sauce is savory and sweet. The prawns are fresh, the curry is thick and flavourful. They should have bread to be eaten with this curry. They would go along very well. The sambai belacan kangkung is good too. Oily, shrimpy, spicy and the kangkung is still very juicy.
Considering the quality of the food, price is pretty reasonable. Rm30+ per pax for the above dishes and 2 rice.
Parking is not hard. Ample of parking at the side of...

It’s incredibly well-known and popular in the area, and you’ll be able to find plenty of reviews (including in the Michelin Guide) and information about its history if you google it.
All the dishes were well cooked. The highlight for me was the egg foo yong - delicious with lots of flavour and a nice crispy texture around the edges. The kai lan was also excellent. The belacan chicken was nice, but could have used a bit more batter in places.
I’d recommend going early to avoid the rush, and leaving yourself plenty of time as the food can take a while...
