If you plan to eat here, you must be comfortable with its highish price point. It's a cafe style eating joint and the decor is fairly standard of Chinese cafe vibe. The staffs are efficient though and ordering is easily done through QR.
They serve 'elevated' hawker food. Hence the elevated price also. But you pay this extra for the nice air con cool temperature, nice plates and solid utensils. This branch is new, so it's very clean and inviting.
As far as the food is concerned, they are delicious but I think the chef is very heavy handed in the salt. They are all overly salty in my opinion. I did enjoy the wtm springy noodles, soft Hainan chicken meat and the delicious curry that came with the fragrant rice which was accompanied by a generous chicken piece. The Hokkien mee soup is enjoyable but again, a little too salty.
The ckt had large prawns and luckily not too oily. Just a hint of wok hei in the flavour. Not bad but nothing to shout about. The taugeh was just average. A bit too light in flavour I felt.
The polo bread is however well baked with a large piece of butter that melts throughly into the bread giving it a superb oily taste. A bit too big for a single diner but nice to share amongst a few.
Coffee is thick and strong. It may or may not be to everyone liking though. But I ordered the mixed coffee and tea drink which was superb. In short, nice clean new place to eat hawker food but need to dial down...
Read moreIf you ever want to sample some of the more popular hawker food from Penang but you don't want to go to a normal coffee shop which is hot, then OO is the place for you to consider. Char Kuey Teow, Hokkien Mee... They may not be the famous ones from Penang but you can be assured that they taste pretty good and definitely do some justice to popular hawker food from Penang. You get to enjoy the nice food with air conditioning comfort and I love it ! You also get to customize your food and for me, I added cockles aka siham to my char kuey teow and it is so satisfying to me!
So for those of you who wants to enjoy popular hawker food from Penang at a very comfortable and cosy restaurant, do consider OO white coffee. Oh yeah, so far I have tasted a few places of this popular franchise and the consistency is more or less okay. But if you want a recommendation then I will suggest to try the OO at Snake Temple, Penang...
Read moreJust an average place to have some hawker style food in an air-conditioned environment (like a cafe). We had high expectations but it was okay.
The wantan noodles with chicken was served not really hot. Lacking the kicap flavour. Almost tasteless.
However, the kaya butter toast & Cold White Coffee was good. We loved it. Perfect balance.
Ordering is done through scanning the qr code. Restaurant may be crowded during peak hours or day. We waited for a while to be seated.
Cleanliness and hygiene can be improved as there were MANY FLIES around us when we were eating.
Price is on the higher side.
If you have time, please rather drive to Island to the original authentic Carnarvon Street coffee shop....
