Hideout Cafe 60 — Restaurant in Penang

I have been to this place a couple of time pre and post covid. Although they disguise themselves as a Cafe, they do have a wide menu of various food items from local to western cuisine. Few things are a little irritating are - you have to go to the main counter to place an order so if there is no table available on the ground floor, you first place your order and then go find a table on the first floor. They need to find a better alternative for order placement. Another point is the size of the tables. Most of the two seater tables are meant for only Coffee drinking, so if you happen to sit on such a table and if you have ordered food items, you can’t put more than one plate on the table. Overall their layout and design is Cafe focused and not a restaurant focused but then when you have a Menu of more than 6 pages, furniture should go along with it.

Okay let’s talk about food - food items are pretty good. I felt some items have lost their charm post covid time as I had the same pre-covid which was way better. Coffee is good quality but they need to train the Baristas to understand the difference between different coffee types. It doesn’t matter if you order a Latte or a Cappuccino or a Flat white, they serve the same thing with same amount of foam in each variety.

They got a very good scope so these little improvements shall make them a worth...

This is the first time I was asked to leave a cafe because of two cups of Starbucks😅

We made an appointment with the girl to have brunch here. We had breakfast around 10am. Around 12pm, the girl’s friend bought two cups of coffee and brought them over to treat us. We knew we couldn’t bring outside food and drinks, so two cups of Actress King coffee were just Leave it there until you finish your lunch and take it away.

At this time, the young lady also went to order her lunch, and while I was still wondering what to eat, the clerk came over...

Clerk: No other drinks can be brought in here Me: We won’t drink in the store because we still have lunch

Clerk: She repeated that you can’t bring in drinks from outside. Me: So where are these two glasses going to be placed? My friend also ordered lunch…

I went on Sunday morning and was given seat upstair. I was disappointed with the service. Food is served late though some dishes actually can be served in short period of time such as croissant with ham and nasi lemak. The food is served without folk and spoon . I hv to remind the waitress. It took quite some time to wait until I called the girl from upstair. I started fed up with the service but I tried to be considerate. Maybe they were too busy. Waited quite some time my final order arrived. The menu shows the chicken come with mushroom gravy. But what I received was just chicken. I hv to remind the waitress again. The waitress response is not sure. Until another girl ask her to request from kitchen. The chicken was eaten in cold and undelicious condition as waited for the gravy. And the gravy without a piece of mushroom. What an unpleasant dining experience. So guys, if u with to have good western food, can consider Pentagon...
