Mode Inn Hotel Icon City — Hotel in Penang

I stayed for 2 nights in Feb20 as I needed to attend a wake/funeral nearby. So my needs were rather basic - a clean bed (checked), clean shower (checked) and security (security).||||Located in a rather new development, it is a nice cosy hotel with 3 floors. The building was built for commercial purposes - like eateries, pubs, offices, and there were plenty of these nearby. The carpark is in the middle of the stretch of road between the 2 banks of buildings and it fills up very quickly.||||The things that I found lacking were:||(1) only 1 power point in the whole room. Luckily, I brought a multi-plug charger. Clearly inadequate for modern lifestyle where you have more electrical appliances, like laptops, hair dryers.||(2) No kettle or fridge (at least in Room 208). I can accept the lack of a fridge but no kettle to boil water was a surprise. Coupled with the fact there is only one convenience shop in the whole vicinity (and note it is not 24 hours), it is a major letdown.||(3) The hot water in the bath takes too long to warm up, like after 5 minutes of water flowing (such a waste). In the long run, the high water wastage will add up.||(4) the carpets in the corridors were stained and needed cleaning. It is a new hotel and the corridors is the first impression to all visitors.||||Overall, my needs for this trip were basic as I was hardly in the room, except to sleep and bathe, but the hotel...

I recently stayed here and had a wonderful experience thanks to their exceptional customer service. During my stay, I accidentally left behind an important item in my room. As soon as I realized it was missing which was a week after I got back to KL, I contacted the hotel. The staff was incredibly responsive and helpful. They immediately located the item and shipped it to me upon request.

The process was quick and seamless. I was so relieved and impressed by the hotel's willingness to go above and beyond to ensure I got my belongings back. It made a stressful situation much easier to deal with.

Beyond that, my overall stay at the hotel was great. The room was clean and comfortable, the amenities were modern, and the location was perfect for my needs. But the standout part was the customer service. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel that truly cares about their guests' satisfaction and goes the extra mile to ensure a positive experience. I will definitely be staying here again on...

If you like staying in a windowless closet, then this place if for you! My normal location was booked full, so I stayed here. It's more like a cheap, efficiency-style place.||||No window - actually, there IS a window, but it was cemented over, I guess because there's a fire stairwell in front of it... but then... why would you need to cement over the window, again? In fact, I estimate that at least 60% of the rooms do not have windows. Maximum, 3 or 4 rooms out of 10 or 11 have a window on each floor.||||So small, I had to step over my own luggage to get to the next door. I can hear old ladies cackling next door, and smell cigarette smoke wafting in through the ventilation system.||||The toilet and shower occupy the same space... and there is no door or partition around the shower, so you can't keep anything in the bathroom without it getting soaking wet when you take a shower.||||Staff were fine. The designer should be tarred...
